More penalties awarded for holding in the box this season*

Playing 30 seconds with 10 men when you are organised is still better than having the ball ricocheting in your own area and potentially creating a chance.

Make it 2 mins and it might stop it more.
I agree, if it's genuine it surely takes that long to ensure he is OK to continue.

I wonder if they'll be bringing out a rule to stop opposition players smashing their faces into VVD's elbows?

It’s funny, I’ve just read a bit of a long thread on Twitter discussing this. And in the first 15-20 replies, there’s posts from fans of at least eight different clubs, all totally convinced that this has being brought in for the sole purpose of fucking their club about.

Anyone holding a player in the box should be either a penalty or a free kick for the defending team. It's not fucking Rugby, this didn't used to be a thing but it's been allowed to creep into the game so much so that wrestling opposing players to the ground is hardly penalised from corners, and if it is penalised it's random.

That and stopping the game for players going to ground, pretending to be injured are the two things that need sorting. Seriously don't stop a game unless it's obviously a bad injury.

It’s football fans on social media.

Even people that can debate reasonably outside of football can’t do so when it comes to officiating in football.

Same every year a new rule is apparently introduced.
Yet dippers and the rags and treated differently while the paying fans have the piss taken out of them

That will be because of the inconsistencies last time a rule was brought in to deal with shirt pulling etc in the box - officials made a pigs ear of it and it was forgotten after a month.
Like getting in the refs face, all it needs is a consistent approach and a few cards applied (consistently) and it will improve behaviour in the game.

How many will Liverpool get tonight
First dipper pen inside 10 minutes.
Penalty.
Yellow card for holding.
New rules clearly working.
Score still 1 nil.
Bournemouth player goes down inside dipper box last 10 minutes.
No penalty.
New rules clearly working as said player was clearly simulating an elbow to the snotter by that nice Mr Dyke.
Yellow card for feigning injury.

Half the players in pen area will be screaming falling over! Agree with the fake diving clamping down on but if a players holds his head even though it doesn’t look like the player been hit on the head the referee will still blow his whistle to stop player because referee can chance it that it could be serious! So we will still get players holding there head to waste time stop play!
Easy way to stop that. Anyone holding their head has to undergo a full concussion test while the game continues.

The game will get longer slower because every corner the ref will stop the game while var has a good luck at all the holding and if it’s a one of there favourites it will take longer while they find something! What we should do time how long var takes for the usual teams to us!
