More racism in Liverpool?

I studied for my degree at Liverpool and lived (rented) in City Road behind the Everton stadium for 2 of those years. Both sets of supporters displayed racism, but I always felt that Everton fans were slightly worse and in larger numbers. Others may recall the John Barnes 'banana' incidents and, although racism is not as prevalent throughout British society as it used to be, it still (sadly) rears its ugly head far more often than we would desire.

Thankfully, voices are raised AGAINST this kind of attitude in 2012 and this particular catalogue of events not only could well cost Liverpool FC dear, but also send a (needed) signal out to 'supporters' of other clubs that racist behaviour will not be tolerated any longer. Obviously, there will be those who will covertly still harbour the hate, but at least we don't have to hear it forced upon us.

There will always be a minority of race hate apologists (let's face it, some even frequent Bluemoon) but it's refreshing to see that the pendulum is finally beginning to swing in the right direction.

As for the picture that Ducado posted, I think anyone that claims not to see the obvious 'body shape' of the kid and the other things going on in that picture and draw the clear inferences, really does need to pay a visit to the Opticians. Soon.

The singing of the 'Suarez song' and the disgusting timing spoke volumes the other night.

Liverpool FC should be very ashamed at this moment in time.

I know an Asian lad (Pakistani) who i would never be mates with if them racist cunts did not exist. He rented a house in Anfield and just the shit he could hear with fans walking past made his missus upset so they moved to Wigan.

I know Asian lads at uni who lived at the time near Main road who heard heard some racist shit once. Now im not saying we are free of such idiots but the massive. massive majority of blues are sound. I personally do not know any racist people who are blue or of any other club.

Hi mate,

Are you in Manchester? For some reason, I thought you were abroad?

I definitely think it's getting better but I have seen and heard a few.

The thing that's cocked it up for Liverpool is the Club's (especially Dalglish) stance.

I am usually matey, 2011 was a weird oine as took over my old mans business (Wigan).

I keep an app in Amsterdam and own a house in Austin TX, i have digs in Milwaukee also.

Yeah Dalglish has to fall on his sword here. I won't mind if he does not as it will just perpetuate the feeling non dipper fans have for them.

I have no sympathy for them as if that was us i would rip Suarez a new arsehole and i think everyone else would. Ifthey didn't i would leave here and be pretty disgusted with my fellow supporters.

What you up to bud ?

That's a ridiculous standpoint to take. That photo captures a fraction of a second in time. The kid MIGHTbe doing a monkey impression. But he might also be doing any number of completely innocuous and unrelated things. Thankfully, the authorities won't rush to judgement quite so quickly.

There'll be video of this anyway, so they'll be able to tell what that kid was really doing from that.

the video will go missing or there was a fault on the system that evening

Hmmm this from last night I let you be the judge of what the kid is doing

scouse.jpg
and they say a picture can say a thousand words

several booers as well as what looks like not a good position for the kid or the guy in the white shirt just to the left

the black guy in the white jumper 'bottom right' dont look happy
Is that a black guy? Doesn't look like it to me.

But what about the person standing up at the back, just right of centre, looking towards the guy at the top with the shiny glasses or up above him to something out of shot? That person's face is black or in shadow or it's his hair.

Difficult to tell quite where Adeyemi is looking (or even if he is looking in that moment at his abuser), but none of animated people by the circled lad look like they could be the 20-year-old that has been arrested.

Very true. Its that siege mentality that they've adopted that's the problem. Every club has a few fans that are capable of racial abuse.

Apparently that photo actually shows the Centenary Stand (not the Kop) and wasn't taken during incident (the adverts on the hoardings are different), which shows how silly it is to read too much into it.

That's almost as ignorant as the racists at Anfield.

I've thought of new verses to add to the Liverpool slum song, but they're too distasteful to post. Actually, humour doesn't work at this time, the matter should be taken seriously, and I hope the coppers are doing that. I also hope everyone at LFC comes to their senses before their club get dragged even deeper into the mud. The 'Eees a scouser, so he must be innocent,' routine really has been pushed too far of late.

Ah, but what 'DubaiBlue' didn't tell you was that he chose to snip that little bit out of a much larger post, which I reproduce below. He didn't bother to address anything else in my post and homed in on this, as it suited his er..erm...'point of view,' let's say. Pretty disingenuous really but it wouldn't be the first time he has conducted himself in such a manner with me.

Secondly, if you truly believe my pointing that out is as ignorant as the racists at Anfield, I would suggest that it is not myself who is ignorant. To equate as you chose to was also downright offensive but enlightening at the same time. Nice to know your mindset.

Finally, here's the FULL post I made....you know, the one 'DubaiBlue' so nicely edited:

I studied for my degree at Liverpool and lived (rented) in City Road behind the Everton stadium for 2 of those years. I singled out that one section because it was an unbelievably stupid thing to say and the rest of it had no relevance whatsoever. It's a photo of a different part of the ground at a different time in the game that shows a young boy doing.................well, none of us know what, yet you think it's compelling evidence of the racist abuse Adeyemi is alleged to have received from the Kop.

I don't really have any issue with the rest of your post as it's not relevant, which is the reason why I chose to ignore it.

Also, I'm sure Malg read your post in its entirety and made his own mind up. I don't think he needed to rely on me to point out how idiotic it was.

Yeah, ok.

You accuse me of coming to conclusions (several others came to the same conclusion - why exactly do you think Ducado posted the picture?) yet you seem to KNOW for a fact that Malg read my entire post? Funny that, seeing as he clearly quoted only the section YOU snipped DISINGENUOUSLY to try to put your own SLANT on things. It's interesting that you made no comment on the racism I alluded to in my full post though.

Thanks for finding my POV stupid and idiotic.

I won't even bother telling you what I think about some of your 'posts' in the past.
