Surely his agent gave Tottenham the heads up that there's a clause in his contract that he can now leave for £60m?

I've read an article that Forest aren't denying the release clause, It's more down to the player being tapped up and the deal getting done with the knowledge of Nottingham Forest (well everything apart from the fee of course).

As you said, Could all be bollocks. Transfer windows are turning into episodes of Eastenders ffs, the amount of drama that surrounds it is crazy.

Yes I think that is what has happened the agent has passed the info on to Spurs, which probably became blindingly obvious when they did ‘a Suarez’ and offered a pound over it.

Probably the last time the contract was renewed everything was agreed, the wages, loyalty bonuses, length of contract and buy out clause based on the player and his representatives kept the information quiet so if another club were interested Forest could maximise their profit. Hence I think Forest are not too happy.

Exactly. Spurs found out somehow and bid the release clause before Forest getting bumped up to europa is confirmed meaning Forest are going at spurs for tapping up as someone must have told them.

Let them fight it out we’ve got bigger things to sort out!

Imagine the shite we'd get if it were us who found out about the release clause!

I could see why we were linked with MGW at the beginning because we were lacking a player like him.

But once Nico O broke through i think it was obvious, well i thought it was, that he had a similar game to MGW.

Nico O has the potential to be a star imo and with the other midfield players we've got, we can allow Nico O to develop into a top, creative, box to box midfielder, who can also slot in as a LWB if needed.

Just spend the money on Livramento!

Why? If they’ve activated the release clause not sure what the issue is apart from the fact that Forest are moaning cunts. What’s the point of a release clause if the players agent doesn’t know about it and why should that agent not be able to mention it to another club?

Not if it says they can't in the contract, no. Admittedly, it's a new one on me but if they agreed to it then they've got to honour it or face the consequences.

It seems that Spurs hadn’t contacted Forest to say that they were going to to begin with and sorted out medicals etc and then wanted to pay over the contract length where a release clause needs to be paid in one go?

Doesn’t that cash have to be accounted for correctly though through the books etc? Otherwise Mansour could just bang in £500m for transfers? Isn’t that falling under the shareholder type loan we won the battle on for APT?

And then City came along and MGW was all in joining Pep and Foden but suddenly found forest quoting 100 million and City signs Cherki. Spurs came along and I guess MGW thought these fuckers wont never let me leave and release clause is the way to go and here we are!

Because if its true that the NDA broken then the release clause will become null and void, therefore Spurs are back to square one and will have to pay what Forest want. Forest have also complained to the FA that Spurs spoke to MGW without their permission

In Spain the release clause is a mandatory requirement of a contract and tends to be public knowledge, also its the player who has to pay it to the Spanish FA to release themselves from the contract
 
Spurs going for Wharton as well. I dont see us sitting by while Spurs have a free run at him, with Tolmie and other journalists close to city saying that people at city love Adam Wharton. I think we might move for him now. Genuinely think he would've been main transfer target next summer with Bernardo and Gundo leaving.
