Morgan Gibbs-White

Mate, think we are going to have to agree to disagree. I see MGW as another Kalvin P disaster waiting to happen only at a far greater financial cost and risk. I do think they have lost it, but would absolutely love to be proved wrong and that my genuine concerns are unfounded.
Why would they have lost it and do you not think Pep or Txiki or Viana or even Khaldoon may have noticed if they had. It's a baseless thought with nothing to back it up.

Managers, Sporting Directors and Scouts are not infallible. We just don't need this guy.
Tell you who else aren’t infallible, posters on the internet that’s who, and they are a lot more fallible that City's sporting directors, manager and scouts.

They've always been combined with quality homegrown players like Walker, Stones, Barry, Sterling, Milner, Ake, Grealish, etc. Like it or not, you have to have a core of homegrown players, so then you have to think about who's the talented young English players.

There are a few options for returning players - Delap, Trafford and Rogers - but I don't think any of those would come to spend most of their time on the bench. Palmer's the other one, but that's not happening.

Then you have the ones where there's no chance, namely Saka and Bellingham.

The you have players that potentially could be good enough, but aren't in positions we need right now, like Guehi and Branthwaite.

So you're left with, by my count, four potential targets: Wharton, Eze, Livramento, and Gibbs-White. Of those, Eze is 27 by the summer, and I reckon Newcastle are unlikely to sell Livramento.

They might genuinely have just figured he's the best homegrown player that's available in a position we need. I think the problem will emerge if he's all we bring in to replace someone like KDB, rather than being brought in alongside someone like Wirtz.

Is there only one scout, how do you know its the same one.
Read the thread. I did not know but was told by another poster

It really is. Have the clubs recruitment (and retention) team lost their marbles? I mean seriously wtaf. A load of money for this ne'er do well, no proven record, whilst simultaneously letting KDB go.

I despair, I really do.
It’s mad isn’t it

Wharton, Eze and Livramento would work for HG. Blows quite alot of the budget though so I think we use what we have in Foden, O'Reilly and Lewis (to a lesser extent) and see what we can promote.
Tough calls this summer, and alot of work to do. We also STILL have the charges hanging around - I wonder how long the PL can keep this dragging on and seeding players minds as a result

The fact that you can only name Phillips proves my point. He has been an outlier for a club that has gotten the overwhelming majority of its transfers right over the last decade.
I’ve decided anyone throwing out the Phillips cliche, either are wumming, or they are scraping the barrel to try find a way of not trusting the club, which is weird , either way I can’t be arsed wasting time replying to it anymore.
