Morgan Gibbs-White

I really hope we don't end up with this guy. He is nowhere near good enough for us. I'd go as far to say he isn't better than what we currently have which says it all.
It’s not an exciting signing and i’m not particularly bothered if we get him. I do think he’d be an improvement on what we currently have mainly because he can run and will bring some much needed energy to our midfield.

Fuck knows why we appointed viana seems there is more on this forum better qualified to decide who we should sign and who we shouldn't.

Tbf I've never watched reijnders play all I do know is he's playing in a league where players like Scott mctominay Billy gilmour and henrik mhykitarian are standing out so it's not a top level. We have to trust the guys at the top. I do still feel it will be next summer when we see the big rebuild when stones ake gundo bernardo walker are all out of contract and maybe more.

Italian league technically tactically is up there as the one off the best the lad at Newcastle as an example he has been superb

Yeah obvious I too will be an upgrade in current version of washed of Gundo Kevin Bernardo and Kovacic

Not sure how Poole are using the term current midfield when current midfield cannot be a midfield for any serious team

Yes, so that´s the problem, like we have a few positions need to strenghten. Over 100 Mio?

Rodri is a bad example. He was slated to fuck in his first season with us, and a lot of people said he'd never be good enough to replace Fernandinho. Most of our top players were not household names when we signed them; they became household names after joining us. It hasn't worked out in recent years, but let's not pretend that we've always signed ready-made stars, because we haven't.
The amount of criticism of players that Tixi has brought to this club is absolutely bewildering. OK he has got some wrong but he got a lot more right, you only have to look at our trophy haul to realise that. We have to trust Vianna's judgement on these signings and stop jumping to conclusions about players. Bluemoons record on criticism of certain players hasn't aged well, as you have stated Rodri got absolute pelters on here after his first season.

No International experience, no Champions League experience, only one full consistent premier league season in his career, not a prolific scorer, comes across on the pitch as a twat.

What exactly are his strengths and what experience does he have to suggest he can play at the top level and get us back to where we want to be?

Underwhelming as fuck if we get this guy in for the fee that's rumoured.

He is Newcastle type signing to make the top 4, not City type signing to win the Champions League. 2 England apps at 25 years old, with no European experience. If he was as good as some are saying, he would be a starter for England. Meanwhile, Rico Lewis has 5 England apps. Let that sink in.

We are extremely short on twats.

Twattishness is a wildly underrated factor of a successful team.

I’d much rather see him being a **** and getting people sent off than watch Savinho pretending he’s had a grenade thrown at him every time a full back farts near him.

Without meaning to derail a thread about Gibbs-White, this is spot on about Savinho. He's really got a touch of Neymar about him. Loves a step over but throwing himself to the ground theatrically every time a defender comes within 5yds is really starting to piss me off. He's not winning free kicks because the officials know what he's doing and have no time for it (rightly so), loses possession with it and spends thirty seconds berating the linesman rather than trying to get the ball back.

Anyway....... Gibbs-White. Don't see it myself. Decent player in an over-performing team. I don't think he's the level of a club who wants to be fighting to win things like we have been the last decade. If he does sign I'm happy to be proven wrong, however.

Don't think he will cost that much less than Wirtz would have done, and if we've walked away from that deal because it doesn't represent good value I can't imagine we would entertain this. Appreciate we need homegrown players but would much rather spend this on Wharton, which is a position we should be prioritising over MGW.

Gibbs-White is a good player but don't think we will play in a way that would get the most out of him, so would not be a good move for him personally in my opinion (apart from being able to spend more time with his mate Foden).

We will end up signing him for mega money and in 2 seasons time, loads of fans will be moaning that we've done another Grealish (and I like Grealish) and overpaid because he's English. Look closer to home City? What can the lad do in midfield that someone like O'Reilly can't learn at his age? We either go world class or just better utilise what is available at low cost imo.

More nonsense. He gets in every top 6 team.

Unless things go favourably this week, that thought might warrant reconsideration.

More seriously, he has attributes that we need, but I agree that there is no body of evidence to suggest he is worth anywhere near the fees being mentioned. The English premium must end somewhere.

I'm a big fan of MGW. He's got a massive engine so can run all day long. Unlike a lot of our recent signings, he's not a dribbler, he's a take the ball pass the ball guy, but with the added bonus of taking on risky passes to incredibly good effect. He's in the top percentile for key passes which is something we are absolutely crying out for. A lot of people keep describing him as a number 10 but the reality for me he's much more of someone who will do most of his best work from slightly deeper positions as well being able to get forward when needed.

I don't think the fee will be mental or anywhere near the figures reported. I'd say 55-65 million pounds.
