There is no kdb replacement. People get caught up in that weird frame of thinking. We forget now that KDB himself was a Yaya replacement. Back when people were absolutely certain That there could never be a Yaya replacement. And in sime sense they were right. No one is like Yaya. But then we replaced him with a different kinda player.


What we need is a potential top end player who would being his own style to the table. Wirtz is the KDB og his time the only difference being everybody now accepts the predominance of stats.

While back in the day ( and even amongst our fans) folks were more likely to have faith in players they've gone yo watch st the stadium a few times. So we are unlikely to get the Yaya or Kevin discount. Any player able to replace their quality would already have stays showing it. And unfortunately everyone now believes in stats. This was not the case 10 -12 years ago.

That said, MGW idnt doing it stats wise, so he cant be the marque purchase. He just can't. :(
 
I’m all for this guy. I wholeheartedly understand anyone who is against this as a ‘KDB replacement’ signing. If that was the case absolutely not. But that won’t be the case. He’s more of a Bernardo type and I’m sure that’s what pep likely sees in him.

How many times in big games over recent years have we seen Bernardo drift from attacking midfield/right wing to centre half to play the quarter back, attack starter role and basically start attacks by dropping between the defence/Rodri?

MGW has done that loads this season, and to a level that has put Forest in CL contention.

If it’s him and him only, that won’t fix our problems. But if it’s him and another class, more attacking midfielder (Wirtz being the dream signing), he’ll be great I’ve no doubts. Anyone comparing this to Phillips, Nunes etc is mental.

That being said the fee if it happens will DEFINITELY be insanely over inflated. He’s Forests captain, homegrown and coming from a club with no real need to sell. If this actually happens it really is best to ignore the money and just give the lad a fair shot

Long term I think Mcatee will be a better player. We just need a bit of patience and he needs game time.

If your comparing footballing ability I think Mcatee is much better as well.

Similar with players we’ve let go. We could have saved ourselves millions.
 
Here are his stats. This is a forest team that have been 3rd for most of the season.

Against the other teams in the top 10 (incl. cup games):
18 games - 1 goal and 4 assists.

Fuck me we're aiming low. Like it's the end of the night and we don't want to go home alone.

Forest paid £42m for him. And he’s been worth every penny. He’s their best player and they’ve gone from relegation fodder to CL hopefuls.

Their best player? Is he? ...imo, the lad Anderson is better, and I wouldn't want him either! If you want to try and pin their good (one off, they will be nowhere next) season on one player.....it's hands down Chris Wood.........would you want him? Maybe replace Haaland with him, or if that seems ridiculous, maybe he would've been a better purchase than Marmoush??
When we signed Kelvin Phillips.....he was far better than Gibbs-White, and most people knew he wasn't good enough ;)
 
If he was called Mörgen Gibbs-Weiß and he played for Freiburg and was as good as he is now, we’d have posts going on about how good our recruitment is from the Bundesliga and he’ll be a great long term Gündoğan and Kovačić replacement and they’re looking forward to seeing him play for us.

If he was called Morgio Gibbi-Bianco we’d say he’s great but pep doesn’t buy Italian.

Well Savinho has a very Brazilian name, and Doku has a very European name.....and both imo are poor (bobbins to be more to the point) so can't really see your point?

Lol Savinho is 21 and if it wasn't for our shite season would be more of a squad player. He definitely has the ability to succeed here. Doku isn't bobbins but isn't good enough for us IMO.

Conundrum isn't it.
Buy from the Continent - the players look great, and have great stats in possibly "inferior" leagues (more likely more technical leagues imho)
Or buy PL proven who then can't step up to top level European competitions.
Ahhh the dilemma

All opinions, two of the same for me.....Leon Bailey, Jacob Murphy, Alex Iwobi, Martinelli, Brennan Johnson, Elanga, Gnarcho all similar standard. Mitoma and the lad at Bournemouth are better than all of them.
