I'd actually argue he tends to make players, particularly attacking ones, worse by sucking the individuality and flair out of them.

You clearly haven’t watched this kid. Before his ACL he was considered the hottest kid on the block. Even after such a crazy injury he exceeded expectations and personally dethroned a club that won 10 in a row. At that young age ? He scored the finals goal to win them the league. I don’t want to hype up player we’re not getting but he’s literally generational. He’s not Kev but it’s the closest thing we could’ve had. Idc what anyone says I would put money on it. I loved his almost shoot-on-sight attitude yesterday. He was wide of the mark, but the idea of just trying without fear felt quite refreshing.

I've certainly warmed to the idea the sort of player we need in midfield will be interesting to see what the fee is though.

I think the fee and the 5 year deal need to be considered in tandem. His fee might be higher than we might want - say £80m - but if he's paid closer to £150k than the £350k grealish gets there would be a c£50m saving over the 5 years on the wages, so would balance a little bit

Havertz was a crazy one. Nkunku was also super good. Some players don’t hit the mark. But their positions were so unique they were strikers but not strikers. I did watch Wirtz. Even yesterday he played passes Haaland would’ve loved but enough of that

Lowering the wage bill doesn't solely extend to the big hitters, though. The fringe and academy players, those on loan where we're paying a substantial chunk of wage, will all be pushed towards the door.
