Ah. Not gonna lie, I’m a bit gutted about that.

Don’t get me wrong, if it was always between MGW or Reijnders then I’d choose the latter but I maintain that MGW would be mint in this team and bring attributes that would improve us massively.

Would’ve loved to get both and rebuild completely.

If he stays at Forest for another year then I reckon we’ll go back for him as @DMA's says. When there’s room in the squad for him. Whether he’s willing to wait is another story.

I still think we are in for him. But it will drag on (was always going to). Him and new RB will be addressed later in the window imo.

Unless we lose Gundo, kovacic and Bernardo there just isn’t space. Just don’t see it tbh.

Next season I reckon we get him
 
Next season his value wont be what it is now anyway, forest had an anomaly of a season with very few injuries right up until the last few games and alot going there way, i dont think it will be repeated next season
 
The fact that Grealish, Walker, Carson and Stones are potentially leaving means we’re likely to either have very few association trained players (that would leave just Ake). It would mean a squad of 17 foreign players, plus Foden and Bobb as club trained players plus u21s like Lewis and O’Reilly and then Ake and maybe Livramento (if we pull off a difficult transfer).

For that reason I think this one isn’t dead but parked to see if Forest lower their expectations on the fee. If we’re walking away it will come through Gaughan or McGrath. We may keep this on ice as we wait to see how the market plays out.

He would obviously compete with them on the pitch but he’s not competing for a squad place as they’re foreign whereas he’s homegrown. If we sign Reijnders and Cherki then at least one of those 3 are off as we simply don’t have the space in the squad.
 
outlier on here apparently, but happy for this. he would have cost an ungodly amount and he's not world class nor does he have the potential to be. If you can get him for 40-50 fine, but the 70-80 it would have cost is better spent.

That’s what I mean. There just isn’t space in the squad given pep wants a small squad.
 
We’ve got to get rid of some players first as it will be slightly difficult to sell Bernado and Gundo.

I also had a feeling this would be harder to do now they don’t have top European football money coming in and with psr they will now want more money. Wouldn’t surprise me if they now want closer to 100m and we’ve for now told them to piss off.
