I don't think this one is a go.

I think City got turned off by the price tag and felt they could get much better value for money. I think if we go for an English CM, I think they would be more likely to look at an Adam Wharton.

I wish they would go for Wharton but imo was quite telling in Khaldoon interview that he said Gonzalez was bought as a 6. I think they’ll live to regret that as I don’t think he’s good enough even as cover as 6 or 8, but hope I’m wrong and just taking time to settle. Either way, he will get chance this season to prove it and rightly so.

I think Wharton gets a big move next summer to a CL club that offers him chance of being the starting no. 6.

Real Madrid. They are monitoring him. Can see them going for him next season. I think we will regret the Nico transfer. Wharton would’ve solved several issues.

Even with Waspish’s very cherry picked date range (it starts just after his run of 13 goals and assists in 8 games), I’m not sure Salah *only* getting 6 G/A in the last 10 games is quite the sign of decline you want it to be.

Agree the pace he set early, though he could have beaten Haaland’s record! He just dropped off from that pace.

We already have Foden, Rodri, Gonzalez, Bernardo, Nunes and now Reijnders for midfield. Would be better giving O’Reilly some games there now we have a proper left back too. No need for MGW at all.

Think I saw something showing he falls off towards the end of most seasons. Could be because titles have already been decided, or because the games get more difficult/have more riding on them. Though one of these seasons his downturn will be because he's getting too old (and is overused/over-relied on by Liverpool).
