We put points on the board in 2025 in a way we didn’t in the second half of 2024 for sure. But let’s not kid ourselves that we played well.

Wouldn’t give us any flexibility for right back, maybe less. Gundogan and Kovacic need to go to make room regardless of any more additions.

Always expected this to be done if we had departures. Expect the talk of this happening again means the beginning of some movement.

If to replace let’s say Gundo it makes the RB spot easy to cover as doesn’t have to be homegrown for the quota?

Much like Livramento Forest and Newcastle didn’t pay much less than that for both Tino and MGW so will never happen at those fees.

But saying that MGW contract is shorter and they like some players here so could see that deal out of the two of them being the one that we get a better deal.
 
I'd be buzzing with this. Gundo and McAtee leave and MGW comes in. His tenacity, energy and genuine ability would be great here. He'd really compliment Rodri and Reijnders too.

And with the new tactics seemingly being built around our '8's moving into space and making runs from deep, I think he'd be a perfect fit.

I was against this when I thought he was the midfield target but now we've got Reijnders I think he'd be a good addition.

Only issue I've got is that it more than likely would mean not signing Livramento or another quality right back and that's more important.

But if we bring in MGW in place of an overseas player (e.g. Gundo), then that means we're no longer limited to a homegrown RB, so we no longer need to massively overpay for Livramento and can look at getting better value elsewhere.

Not sure it’s the type of midfielder we need tho is it ?

The issue is that there aren’t any good RB who are not homegrown and would be significantly cheaper.
