OK , so I guess the most famous person on the planet is either the Queen of England or the Pope.

I haven't met the pope.

I have met Her Maj and Phil the greek and Charles and Margaret and a few others. I was a good little boy in a previous life and had the honour of escorting her around Africa in 1991.

Failing that, my previous post in this thread was Miss World 1995.

So unless anyone has met the Pope then I'm claiming most famous trumps :-)

My Dad met and was blessed by Gandhi. Does that count?

Re: Most famous person you have met???

Was in the same restaurant as Ron Howard and family a few years back, he was on the phone talking to his daughter about how excited she was that her first movie had just wrapped (The Village). Cant say I met him though cos I didnt want to interrupt their dins (was happy enough to eavesdrop on his conversation ;)

That girl is one beautiful ginge.

Jimi Hendrix,Barratts music store on Oxford Road.

Not read the whole thread but I can't imagine anyone could top that.

I'm guessing this was in 1967 or 1968 when he was staying at The Arosa Hotel in Withington, but do tell us more...
Yep the Arosa it was,he was on the Walker Bros.road show.I was in a band and had gone to Barratts for some new strings for my Telecaster copy.Jimi was buying a white strat with maple neck.I was and still am a Hendrix freak and thought I was gonna faint with the excitement of it all.He was very tall and skinny and had a beautiful honey coloured skin, and when I held the door open for him on the way out he just smiled and said thank you very much in that wonderful hip drawl.Apparently, during that same weekend he went for a pint with Scott Walker in the White Lion in Withington.
