Most influential railway engines

The fantastic "Black Five". 842 built, most of them not far from Manchester -:
They were there until the end, 11 August 1968

The image is at Manchester Victoria. Victoria/Exchange was a great place for spotting back in the day. And it had the longest platform in the world at the time.

Coronation Class by Sir Willuam Stanier, beautiful locomotive. My all time favourite when train spotting in a field near Hartford and Greenbank station.

My favourite loco. They were awesome. Loved seeing them at Crewe and Warrington Bank Quay in my younger spotting days. Thankfully preservation came and we can still see this glorious loco on the main line today.

City of Truro. First to get to 100 mph. 190- something.

(And reportedly would have been faster as it came down Honiton Bank in Devon if some platelayers hadn't been walking in its way.)
