Most random match attended?

When I was in France yonks ago I went with a couple of mates to watch Grenoble v Reims in Ligue 1 (or whatever it was called in those days).

In 1972 I went to Maine Road to see a daytime midweek FA Cup 4th round 2nd replay between Cardiff and Sunderland.

Random? By definition, that would mean you were either lost or on a trip for the weekend with little or no imagination, or incredibly pissed.

Remember watching the real Newport County, however Aldridge was playing and I knew who he was. Yep I was incredibly pissed, Fuck it mate invited me

Bray Wanders v Bohemians? Weird but family member invited me, so hardly random. Really pissed

Dortmund v Arsenal, corporate night out, watched the crowd and I was very pissed

Ticket to Chelsea v Leeds 1970 replay, only eight but my dad took me, and we had tickets for Vienna, fuck me that was random cried my eyes out and got really pissed

Think that may be when the drink problem started.

Lived in Aalborg for 6 months back in 2010 and went to their last game of the 2010 season to see them attempt to qualify for Europe. A dire game resulted in Aalborg 0-0 HB Koge. Was also caught up in the Icelandic volcano that year attempting to fly back for the derby but was stranded in Copenhagen instead and the connection to Manchester was cancelled. Watched in an Irish pub there where the ginger one decided to score late on and we lost in the last min for the 3rd time against the rags that season.

Also went to Horsham Town v Bath Uni a few years back in an FA Cup qualifying round. Odd.

Carl Zeiss Jena vs West Brom, September 1979.

Went to Warsaw by train with Andy Shaw (London Branch) to see the friendly between Legia Warsaw and City, after we'd signed Kaz Deyna from them. He played the first half for them and the second half for us. Final score 2-2.

It was sold out, but we went to the team hotel and spoke to Big Joe Corrigan, Michael Robinson and Roy Bailey (the physio). They got us on the team coach and we spent the whole game sitting next to Big Mal on the bench, and signed loads of autographs afterwards.

We took the overnight train back towards Berlin, but got off at the crack of dawn at Frankfurt am Oder, and got a train down to Jena, where West Brom were playing a UEFA Cup game against Carl Zeiss (they lost 2-0). Met some great West Brom fans, although we couldn't understand a word of what they were saying. They looked after us all day and we then got a train back to Magdeburg, where we ended up in all sorts of problems with the border police for not having the right sort of visa.

6 days with no sleep! And just to see a City friendly and another English team.

That's pretty random, don't you think?

do you mean strange?

Can't really compete with East Germany madness, and further to my previous post, but I have a funny feeling I saw India play at Craven Cottage in around 1998, presumably against Fulham but suspect I'd had a few too many Cobras as cannot remember a thing.

21.9.2002 Scarborough v barnet

Was in Harrogate setting up a trade show with a guy who was a barnet fan so we went. Worst game of kick and rush I have ever seen. My mum could have done better. I counted the barnet fans - 93 in total

Mind you, fair play to them it was a long way

Was in Glasgow years ago visiting family (late '80s, early '90s, can't remember exactly) and found out that the local team Shettleston FC were playing a pre-season friendly against Ayr Utd. Our kid and I went to the game and Ally McLeod was Ayr's manager (yes, he of '78 fame). Anyway our kid went up to him at half-time and had a chat. Ended up sitting in the dugout with him for the whole 2nd half.
