No I'm not. A ball by definition is spherical. It can pass over the line with no part of it touching the chalk. The part above the ground may be seen as not passed the line however the ball has still crossed the line therefore it's a goal.

this it taken into account. the overhang from the ball has to be over the WHOLE of the line.
when taking corner kicks the overhang of the ball is allowed to be over a portion of the line, this consistitutes a valid corner kick.

Bout time you told him to go swivel...

But 'the line' isn't just the chalk marking on the ground. It's the invisible planar boundary between in-bounds and out-of-bounds. If your theory was corrected then players would be able to head the ball out of the net as long as it didn't touch the ground.

Invisible planar ? WTF ?

Sorry aha, I should have just said 'imaginary wall'. Would have probably been more appropriate. I do too much mathematics for my own good.

he has to be a wum. I've heard commentators senselessly drill the phrase "The whole ball has to be over the line" for about a decade now.

Interesting to see Dawson quite clearly call the linesman a 'cheating twat'.

I wonder if anything will come of that....?

Are you trying to Clarkie Clarkie?

The whole of the ball has to cross the line, it'd be even more impossible to judge it if it was "the majority" like you say.

;)

What do commentators know? If some bloke off bluemoon says that its the majority of the ball, it's the majority of the ball

Haha @ Elephant Man.

Sunderland are one of the most deteriorated teams in the league, a lot because of injuries. They were challenging for 4th for a long time.

We avoided a clanger by not buying Henderson in January.
