Mother Macs

The Marble Arch on rochdale road or The Marble on Thomas street sell their own Manchester bitter which is supposed to be exactly like the old boddies.
Ive tried it myself and its good, ive never had original boddies though so cant compare..

Manchester Bitter is superb, in a similar style to Boddies, but not the same.

Boddies just changed taste totally after it left Manchester ... different water and all that they say ...

Never heard of The Marble on Thomas Street. Is it related to Marble Arch? Is it good?

Probably one of the weirdest 'normal' pubs I've ever been. Went in there a few times with posters off here, Derby day was always good ;-)
Always liked it though, it was a place where you could just relax and be yourself without fancy prices and dickheads.
Hope it retains some of its character when it reopens.

That Marble is what i call it, think its just called 57 Thomas Street. Yeah, its owned by Marble Brewery same as the other one. Loads of decent beers upstairs.
Definitely worth a visit when youre round that way

Thanks, I'll take a look.

From what I remember the beer was pretty average in there wasn't it? The usual fosters/carling/Stella on tap and a few bitters.

Manchester has moved on in recent years, a lot of ppl want craft ales, better quality beers and are willing to pay for it
