Why is it a shit hole when everyone say one of best pubs around ? Went in last week lady on the bar "alright love not seen you for awhile" you won't get that in spoons ! [emoji476]Shithole, simple as that !
Just jesting mate, we used to have our union meetings there years ago, sad that another real pub is closingWhy is it a shit hole when everyone say one of best pubs around ? Went in last week lady on the bar "alright love not seen you for awhile" you won't get that in spoons ! [emoji476]
Got a feeling I fall into the idiot categoryThe door policy has been its saviour, kept out a lot of idiots,a lot of rags and contributed to the warm, completely blue atmosphere to be found in this brilliantly old fashioned peice of Manchester.
Glad its not going for good, can,t wait to get back in there again. My fav place in Manchester bar none( oops, after the etihad)
Small is the word. If you "dance" like Bez, it's not the place for you!good pub but too small for a footy pub.
Does anyone know if Les is staying on as landlord?
Just hope he doesn't put the prices up and he keeps Boddingtons
Plastic Boddingtons ... sadly .
The Marble Arch on rochdale road or The Marble on Thomas street sell their own Manchester bitter which is supposed to be exactly like the old boddies.
Ive tried it myself and its good, ive never had original boddies though so cant compare..

Never heard of The Marble on Thomas Street. Is it related to Marble Arch? Is it good?
That Marble is what i call it, think its just called 57 Thomas Street. Yeah, its owned by Marble Brewery same as the other one. Loads of decent beers upstairs.
Definitely worth a visit when youre round that way
what if you're skint? From what I remember the beer was pretty average in there wasn't it? The usual fosters/carling/Stella on tap and a few bitters.
Manchester has moved on in recent years, a lot of ppl want craft ales, better quality beers and are willing to pay for it
Probably one of the weirdest 'normal' pubs I've ever been. Went in there a few times with posters off here, Derby day was always good ;-)
Always liked it though, it was a place where you could just relax and be yourself without fancy prices and dickheads.
Hope it retains some of its character when it reopens.
