Before a city game about 3 years ago we were in there and a group of lads were in on a stag night/day. They had about £200 in pots on the table. They all got up and left , moving on. My Mrs picked up the cash and ran after them and caught them just going in spoons in Piccadilly . She gave them the money back. Do you know they didn't t buy her a drink ?
Great pub full of characters, will be sorely missed

its well tucked away - I only ever went in it once never knew it was even there - proper Manc pub - we still need them in defence of the hoity toity plastic/mirror bar sh*t that the youngster love to drink their bottled alcopop in

I know where it is - walk past it at least once a week and have done for years including today. But never ventured in! But gutted really I like experiencing all the different Manchester pubs!

When I was young - I'm not sure I was even 18! - I'd meet my mates in there on a regular basis. In those days we drank brown split with mild, not a drink I've heard asked for in recent times. It was, in effect, my first 'local'.

Shame to see it go, Manchester has lost so many great pubs over the years.

Brown split! God that takes me back some years .only ever had it in ansells or ind coup pubs because the bitter was minging .

I'm 50 and have only ever got in here once on match day when accompanied by my 20yr old daughter, great little boozer but my daughter said never again thanks, obviously a clicky place on match day but the door policy has been its killer

The door policy has been its saviour,kept out a lot of idiots,a lot of rags and contributed to the warm,completely blue atmosphere to be found in this brilliantly old fashioned peice of Manchester.
Glad its not going for good,can,t wait to get back in there again.My fav place in Manchester bar none( oops, after the etihad)
