The epic annual Chinley Chariot race needs to return. THAT scene in Ben Hur was entirely based on it, the excitement and carnage as ape drawn carriages jostled for first place over 2 laps through the village onto Lower Lane and back round Station Approach to the finish line at Squirrel Green opposite Basil's sweet shop (a legend of the business sock) to the tumultuous applause of hundreds of locals clapping their feet in rapturous excitement.

Flag did its job again last night and I noticed was joined by a lot more than usual......

Around me people were actually getting a bit worried because the flag was late appearing!! It has taken on a mystique all of its own that Chinley flag. We wait till kick off now so Manchini can see his banner as he comes out of the tunnel

We actually have bigger problems ! on sunday someone decided to cover the "we're not really here" banner with a flag quite similar to the chinley flag.
