Movie Discussion Thread | Upcoming Releases etc..

I agree, for me the best Batman film.

Yes I hold it in higher esteem as a complete movie experience then The Dark Knight. Don't get me wrong I love TDK but I feel kinda exhausted after watching it! I mean most movies, if a villan threatened to blow up a hospital that would be the climax, on TDK it is just over the half way mark. Also the whole bullet finger print subplot never made sense to me.

Where did you read Nolan is producing this movie? Send a link

Batman begins is brilliant. It defines the character and his methods very well.

Happy to retract that Nolan attribute. I know he 'advised' Pattison so I extrapolated from there.

Nolan was producer to some of Snyder's work on 'Superman', so I stand corrected. It's still the DC Universe, though!!

Yes a funny/tragic story, Nolan ex produced the 3 snyderverse movies. When he watched the Josstice league cut apparently the first thing he did was call Zach Snyder and tell him NOT to watch it under any circumstances, which Snyder followed

Regarding your DC universe claim, this movie the Batman is clearly its own thing. Clearly Warner Bros have faith in this movie, otherwise why bankroll it? But one thing I would bet on is this movie HAS sequel opportunity. So please dont go expecting a "elseworld" movie. If this movie is successful it will have a direct sequel. Forget your crazy "mentor" theory

I know this work of Reeves has bagged a trilogy run.

It doesn't stop it being 'else world', it just means there's a trilogy lined up for this content.

And what 'mentor' are you talking about...?

Anyone going to watch 'The Last Night in Soho' this week?

Out on Friday, I think it looks promising, trailers have been decent anyway. Mixed reviews but generally more positive.

Haven't watched the full trailer above as I tend to cut them short after a brief snippet, don't want the full movie given away.

What did you think of it?

Watched this last week and enjoyed it.

Could have sworn it was Abigail Breslin in the leading role but it's actually New Zealander Thomasin McKenzie.

Also watched Spencer and (Clint Eastwood's) Cry Macho on Friday.

Cry Macho, was alright but just a bit dull and clichéd. Typical western surrogate father stuff.

I thought Spencer was the best of the bunch and expect Kristen Stewart to be nominated for best actress at next years Oscars (the kind of movie to get the academy's attention, let's face it they usually go for royals and politicians if they are well performed).

Only just been to see it tonight, must have seen Dune, Eternals and French Dispatch since posting that trailer as well, just couldn't get around to going to see it...

I thought it was very good, Thomasin McKenzie and Anja Taylor-Joy were brilliant in there roles, glad I went to see it.

Spencer's on the list too, have to find time to watch it between Ghostbusters (new one) and King Richard.

For a long time, I questioned what it was about the coin flip scene in "No Country for Old Men" that caught me cold.

I saw this today and, whilst I don't concur with his whole read, I thought it was interesting nonetheless:

His brief point on badly filmed scenes included "The Bourne Supremacy" was a point I made about Greengrass' terrible fight scene back at the time. I feel justified there! Haha!

I watched the Snyder Cut again last night, really enjoyable imo. It's a bit annoying that they setup the next film with Darkseid basically saying they're coming to Earth on ships to invade and get his 'great prize' but there's no other film coming. Also, showing the Knightmare properly but it's never going to be realised on screen. Fuck you Warner Bros.

Batman last trailer is bloody masterpiece. It fascinates me and at the same time makes me shiver with impatience to see the film. I can understand how they changed Colin Farrell's appearance, but how did they change his voice?

The King's Man

This should be knocking about now. The second one of this series felt to self indulgent. As if they saw the success of the first and got a bit to giddy with it. Taron Egerton is a decent actor and i like him but two films with essentially the same feel was a bit much. I found myself bored half way through the second. The first was great fun and the second was ok-ish.

They hopefully got the memo with this one with Fiennes the main man. Hopefully it has that original vibe again, as much as it can do with the kingsman being well known now.

Think Ana de Armas is going to nail this one, she was great in No Time to Die.

Should have stuck that in the trailer thread, really, as this is for movie discussion (glad to see it bounce back up, actually).

There's a couple of Monroe films about to drop, so I guess the question is why? Is there significant information about to be released or is it just about revisiting biopics a la '"Queen"?

What do you think it will show us that we don't, already, know?

I don't think there will be any major revelations to be honest. Films on historical figures just seem to be the in thing at the moment and sometimes there just happens to be a couple on the same person.

I was just surprised how good she looked and acted in the trailer, it looked like it could be a bit of a miscast originally but it appears as though she's going to be very good.
