Moyes on Talksport

Moyse was helping to perpetuate the myth, taken in hook line and sinker by rag fans, that they keep churning out first team players from their academy.

Now let's see. How many academy products started more than half the rags' PL games last season? Jonny Evans (but only just with 21 starts) and, er, that's it. Anyone think the likes of Wootton and Tunnicliffe are about to become the next best thing? No. of course not.

Our academy hasn't been the best for a while now. Every now and again we churn out a good or decent player, but if i'm being more honest than is comfortable, our academy has been overrated since the class of '92. Who have we produced? Evans, Welbeck, Cleverley, O'Shea (Looked really promising about 10 years ago but we did a Phil Jones and played him anywhere), Brown, Gibson...

Of those Evans and perhaps Welbeck I think will be top class and Cleverley can certainly contribute. But even so, 3 names in 20 years for an academy of our reputation is not good.

Haven't seen that much of our current crop, from what I've heard though Will Keane has high expectations on him, but with Welbeck, Hernandez, Kagawa, Henriquez and Macheda (Ok, he won't be here for much longer but still) all 23 and under, he may find it tough.

Edit: can't believe I left out Fletcher. He was Fantastic at his peak, sadly I can't see him making a full recovery.

Wasn't Cleverley nicked from Bradford's academy?

Moyse also said he'd met with Rooney "two, three, four times". Well Davey, how many times exactly? Surely you can tell the difference between meeting someone twice and meeting them four times?

He has already been given extensive lessons on the "theory of elasticity of time and mathematics" by his predecessor.

I know you should hate him for being Man U manager. But he's actually a decent bloke right ?

I refer you to our bid for Lescott...

I listened to all of it on my way to Brum. Moyes gave everything you'd expect to perpetuate the myth of both the GPC and the biggest club in the world (tm) (c).

I must say I chuckled most heartily at the comment that the rags "...will always be in for world class players..."

Talksport trying hard not to antagonise them with an interview so sugar coated that I had to check my insulin levels afterwards.

He's just trying to be controversial and play Devil's advocate.
Sadly he's confusing this with simply being a dick again.

Not at all. I've always thought Moyes to be a decent bloke when at Everton. Ferguson I can understand the criticism of him being a bully as there's been examples of that. Not playing Devils advocate just generally interested if he is a genuine nice guy or a horrible bully like Alex ferguson , don't see how that's a controversial question
