I have a lot of time for Cook. Him going to supporters clubs meetings and saying something like this isn't new, he hasn't just started doing this this week or even this month. I was at a similar event in Failsworth last August and Cook said something similar, it's what supporters at supporters club events want to hear. At this event in Failsworth, which I'm sure you will agree doesn't have the same status as New York, Cook answered every question has honestly has he could. He was still there way after 11 when I left talking to fans on a 1 to 1 basis about any issues they brought up. Now I can't imagine the likes of Kenyon going to areas such as Failsworth and standing in front of 100+ pissed up blokes answered questions about their club.
The press have jumped on this 1 because of the semi final and all this Tevez/Tw*t thing.

I think City supporters need to change their mind set somewhat.
When Swales (or Lee) said things like this we all knew it was just bullshit, because they didn't have the funds to back it up, but Cook KNOWS that ADUG do, and will.
People are suggesting Kenyon as someone who knows how to make us winners, I don't see much difference between the stuff Kenyon came out with, and what Cook says, both were/are just stating the intent of the clubs owners.
ADUG ARE going to make us into one of the biggest clubs in the world, for me the more we remind the rest of that the better, let them fear us, the more they fear us, the earlier it will happen. If anyone doesn't want City to become one of those the big bully clubs, then you'd probably best get off the bus now, because to become the worlds most dominant club, that is exactly how we will have to be. Either you want in or you don't, its as simple as that.
Also why are some fearing that a big statement from Cook, could see us lose 2 cup ties in 3 days ? Sorry but that's rubbish, his statement had nothing to do with either game, and will have nothing to do with the result of either game.

But what if everyone tries dead, dead hard against us. What if United weren't going to be arsed trying on Wednesday but now that Cook has said what he's said, they've changed their minds and have decided to beat us 17-0 just to to teach us a lesson so that we never, ever, ever get ahead of ourselves again. Come on. The opposition are left feeling belittled and angry by comments like that. I on't need to expand on that because I think everyone on here, whatever their opinion can see how his comments can inspire the United team and management.
How are the City players going to be inspired?
They all know that this club is doing big things and will almost certainly be going places over the next few years. The resources makes it virtually certain.
Are you suggesting that they hear the man who is their 'suit' saying that they are going to be "the biggest and the best" and will beat United and are suddenly hit by an epiphany?
"The biggest and best" bit is complete nonsense and rabble rousing babble designed to impress, well, rabble. It is meaningless and as such tells the players nothing more than that the club has ambition. Something that is startlingly obvious and they all know. There is no possibility that this bit inspires them. They have heard it all before.
So, are they going to be inspired by the CEOs opinion that they will beat United? Really? Of course not. Whose opinion on such a matter do you think they store importance by and listen to? Mancini or Cook? CEOs are, often correctly, viewed as nothing to do with playing matters by players. Thier opinion of Garry Cook's knowledge of on field matters will be either very dim or just of no consequence. A public vote of confidence in the result next Wednesday from him is of absoluel no importance to them. He is 'a man in a suit' and whilst it might have a negative effect if he publically said they would probably get stuffed, him guaranteeing victory will be laughed at by the players as he has no credentials to do so. He is not someone like Mourinho who does so from a stance of experience and in the knowledge that he has the ability to affect such an outcome with his own skills.

So what? We went years and years without a derby win (often without a derby at all, unless you counted Macclesfield) and everyone feeling bittered. Bugger all we could do about it, though, because we have angry players and they had good ones. And anyway, I highly doubt the players give a stuff what Cook says.
