Much Love to Steven, Nicola, and Little Ruben

Very best wishes being sent your way from our whole family.

When my eldest was born it was a terrifying experience, she was overdue and was blue on arrival, didn't want to breathe, I still have nightmares now about the nurse calmly saying "can you push that button again , dad?" to summon yet more doctors into the room and my wife shaking with fear.

Didn't get any easier as my wife was then called back for emergency surgery after holding little one just once, I was left with a nurse for the next 6 hours wondering if I was alone bringing this one up now. The next day came the diagnosis that little one has complications and we still go to alder hey for that regularly.

But, despite all that, kids bring you so much joy and validity as a person. You'll never forget these past few days, but I hope you see you're stronger for it even when it doesn't feel like it, a true bond between you now that is eternal.

@twosips

I'm so glad to hear he's doing better.

My wife and I had our son (Reuben - great minds...) in May. We went through something similar and it was the hardest week of my life.

I hope your partner is doing well. If either of you found the birth traumatic, ask for a debrief. It helped us a lot.

Oh, and take tons of pictures and videos constantly. My Reuben is nearly 6 months old and I spend an unhealthy amount of time watching them back. Finally, coffee is your friend.

Inspired name for your little warrior, just like the young fella who is remembered through this charity, brilliant news for you, Mrs TS and hopefully your little blue boy, refreshing fantastic news.

Honestly, the relief of just sitting on our sofa, drinking a brew from our own cups, changing him in our own living room and rocking him in the moses basket we bought for him as we caught up on Bake Off. Ha. All the most boring things but it felt heavenly.

He's six days old today and has spent five of them in hospital with constant blood tests, wires going in and out of him and god knows what else. Feel so sorry for the little lad. A proper fighter though, naturally given his name ha.

He had his latest inflammation marker test back today and it was entirely down to normal range, so they've let us go home. Gotta go back in tomorrow to have the final course of antibiotics, but he's healthy, happy and free to head on home and settle in with us and we're absolutely buzzing...oh and it also means I get to go on City's Matchday live show tomorrow so I'm quite happy haha. Craving normality!

Cheers once again to all for the lovely words everyone. You're a wonderful bunch x
Great news! Puts everything into perspective.

Glad he’s over the worst.
Hoping for normal boring life for you all now.
