hijacked by who. it was set out to stop the medium to smaller teams from getting new invest and to keep the rich clubs at the top of the pile.

none of the policies are there to effect the arsenal`s, united`s, barca`s or real madrid`s of football. it there to stop clubs who aspire to take their place

The original idea was a good one, to try to stop clubs doing a Leeds or Portsmouth.
It was hijacked by the richer clubs you mentioned, and turned into a way of keeping the likes of City and Chelsea in their place.
I think we agree on what FFP is now about, but my argument is that it was originally well-meant.
Do you really believe that the G-14 brought in FFP to stop clubs doing a Leeds/Pompey?

How very altruistic of them.

Spot on. I really bet pompey's plight was keeping karl heinz rummenigge up at night.

The very same karl heinz who was found guilty of trying to avoid paying tax on a "gift" watch given to him by qatar when entering Germany!!

Someone open the windows. It fucking stinks!!

With the greatest respect Stuart, I don't think the idea behind FFP was ever well-meant in the way you suggest. But that's a different argument for another thread.

I think you should do an article on ffp and how it's helping bolton stuart.

I remember in the 80's, 90's and 00's I couldn't wait for my dad to finish reading the MuEN so I could get my hands on the unbiased, if anything positive view on City when the red tops laughed at our demise - I did expect that when we became awesome and twatting the rags regularly that they would be there with us - putting our glory into print, the Phoenix from the flames risen again. Instead they seem to want to fuck us over every which way, becoming exactly the same as the red tops I loathe. Sad day when my old man stopped buying it due to increasing and indescriminate sniping at our club.

Fuck them.

I just read bluemoon for all the sensationalism I need!

It was Platini who was behind FFP - and he was the man who led the drive to get rid of G14 - it was disbanded before FFP was brought in by Uefa.
I think his original purpose was to try to stop clubs going under by chasing the dream, but the way it was implemented perverted that aim and made the monstrosity we have today.

Sooo Stuart... WHO was the MEN staff member on here on the wind up?

The G-14 clubs still exist, just not as an 'official' body, but they still exercise all the power
Platini brought in FFP to mollify these clubs, not to prevent others going under
Platini dances to their tune and the threat of a breakaway European league soon had him in a spin and bringing in his 'monstrosity'
I believe the reason for such convoluted rules is that they were making them up on the hoof trying to satisfy the wants of the G-14 rather than meet a single goal of protection from ruination

I stopped clicking on their site after this pathetic headline

Ouch! United cut City down to size at Manchester Tourism awards
7 Nov 2013 12:Ouch! United cut City down to size at Manchester Tourism awards
7 Nov 2013 12:00
United won the bragging rights at the Manchester Tourism Awards on Wednesday as the Reds won 'Large Visitor Attaction Award' and City won 'Small Visitor Attraction of the Year'.

Which, I may add, was defended by you
