MUEN again and again

Has that private jet from Portugal landed yet, Stuart?

That private jet was correct, the only mistake was that I was led to believe it had taken off, when in fact it was still on the tarmac in Porto - I corrected that as soon as I was told that a plane did not need to be in the air to be given a landing slot.
City had the jet on stand-by in case they concluded the Fernando deal. How else would they have got him back for the medical in time to meet transfer deadline.
My story was corroborated by plane-spotter types on Twitter, who said that the Ringway schedule had clearance for a private jet from Porto to land at 3.23pm.
It was later pulled when the flight was cancelled, because no deal was done.

So it was an inaccuracy? I've always found that if you post the truth then you don't have to correct yourself later on.

Sounds a bit like the David Lynch story about the empty seats, which was also inaccurate and was corrected a few days later by yourself and Mike Keegan.

Sounds like your paper throws these stories about to get clicks/views etc and once the smoke has cleared you apologise and correct yourself.

Sounds pretty amateurish to me.

Without being 100% sure, I think the article related to the anniversary party (City's lack of trophies) that was due to be held at Walkabout, with David May.

When someone on here flagged it up, the response was that there was a junior member of staff who put the article online unsupervised. He was unsupervised as it was a bank holiday and there was a shortage of staff.

When you say you are not 100% sure, do you think it might be nearer 0%?

Here is the article to which you refer, written in Feb 2011 - not many bank holidays in February.

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/news/greater-manchester-news/ex-united-star-david-may-organises-party-853168" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... rty-853168</a>

And it was written by Mike Keegan, a staff reporter.
So, when you say it was a work experience lad writing a wrong story at Easter, what you actually meant was that it was an experienced staff reporter writing a correct story in February.
Like I said, lies and inaccuracies

Nice attempt to crowbar yet ANOTHER link for your shoddy journal in. You really don't miss a trick do you?

I'll tell you what I'll do, Stuart. I'm off work next week for a few weeks after an operation. Once Cheltenham is out of the way, I'll find the story and post it up in this thread.

If I don't find it, I'll retract my comment.

Jesus H Christ. I found the story for you, and gave you the link - it was in February. Which bank holiday will that have been?
And just to save you having to click on the MEN, I'll paste it here for you:

A former United star is planning a city centre bash – to celebrate the anniversary of City’s 35th year without a trophy.

David May, who won a European Cup with the Reds, has organised a party marking the Blues’ recent lack of success on the night before the next Manchester derby.

Fans will be charged £20 for the United Nights event on February 11, which is being billed on a fans forum as City 35th Anniversary Party.

Fellow ex-Reds Frank Stapleton, Arthur Albiston and Clayton Blackmore, are also expected to attend the bash at the Walkabout Bar on Quay Street.

The M.E.N. understands the Stretford End ‘ticker’ banner, which celebrates City’s barren spell, will be ‘turned’ from 34 to 35 during the party.

Advertising the event on his blog, May, 40, wrote: “The next United Night has landed perfectly, it is before the biggest game of the season, A TITLE DECIDER WITH CITY AT OLD TRAFFORD IN FEB. Hundreds of Reds getting together for a night they will never forget.

“WE ARE ALSO CELEBRATING CITY NOT WINNING A TROPHY IN 35 YEARS!!! HA HA. SEE YOU THERE!!!!”

After the M.E.N. contacted May, the final sentence and a picture of the ‘ticker’ banner were taken down. He said the event was part of the traditional ‘banter’ between fans and was not meant to offend.

He added: “It’s one of the biggest derbies in a long time and I’m sure the fans will be singing about it and the players will be asked about it. It’s friendly banter.”

The event is the latest of the United Nights, which were set up by May aimed at fans travelling to Old Trafford matches from Ireland and Scandinavia. Live bands perform and supporters get the chance to mix with ex-players and sing United songs.

A spokesman from United Nights said: “This is not a City Anniversary night. Some fans may have described it as that but we haven’t. There are 300 Norwegians coming over and they know nothing about City’s history. It’s an event we have before every big United match.”

GMP said they had no plans to police the meeting.

The Blues last won a major trophy – the League Cup – on February 28, 1976.

United fans often use the fact to taunt their rivals and the ‘34 years’ banner takes pride of place in a corner of the Stretford End. City boss Roberto Mancini promised to ‘take that banner down’ last year declaring City would soon win a trophy.

May, from Oldham, joined the Reds from Blackburn in 1994. He was part of the Reds squad that won the treble in 1999. He was a City fan and as a youngster had trials with the Blues before joining Blackburn.

Madchester band The Fraudsters have been signed to play the event and there will also be an auction and a raffle. The derby is at Old Trafford on February 12.

So when the facts are published by the MEN and particularly from SB,by what has been actually stated most of you don`t have the balls to acknowledge that it is actually you (you being the ones who aint got the balls to accept you were wrong) who are "coming up with fantasy tales".
As SB has stated on many an occasion, why let a good story get in the way of some people on here coming out with lies. When confronted with actual proof via stories and dates, most then shit themselves and don`t have a decent enough argument to prove otherwise.
I fucking despair if WWIII ever breaks out as I fucking wouldn`t like some of you ball-less ones to be fighting in my fucking trenches you mard arses.
The old adage "sticks and stone may ..." springs to mind.I bet some of you from school (and I think some of you may still be attending) would be the ones who would say to teacher "please Sir/Miss,Johnny said this about you, blah, blah, blah"

I said I wasn't certain that it was the David May 34/35 banner. What bit of that did you not understand?

What I stand by is that there was an inappropriate article put on the website, which attracted criticism. The excuse given by the MEN was that it was submitted by a junior member of staff, due to a staff shortage.

As I've said, if I don't find it, I'll retract my post. In which case, you have no reason to get defensive about it.

At least you have the balls to admit it BP or do you ?? I would have thought that the info SB has given is more than enough to show he remembers the said article.

I await with bated breath.
Once, I think (although I'm not 100% sure), there was a really biased article in the MEN. I don't know what it was about, or who wrote it, or indeed when, but I'm going to call you a **** for it.

SSSSSSSHHHHHHHH!!!!

We don't want an outbreak of balance and rationality!

But you did neglect to mention the article we ran last week which had a photo of 22 United players returning to the airport from Olympiacos, entitled "22 pictures of United players looking glum on return to Manchester" <a class="postlink" href="http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/22-pictures-manchester-united-looking-6750197" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;">http://www.manchestereveningnews.co.uk/ ... ng-6750197</a>

Imagine if we had run that on City? All hell would have been let loose.
You know what I did to find those stories?

I typed "Manchester United" into the search bar on the MEN website.

Genius things, search bars.
