What really maddens me about the MEN is the crap spouted by Andy Mitten in his weekly column. Almost without fail he gets in digs at City or mentions us in a very condescending way. Doesn't he live in Barcelona now? Why not have a column by a Manchester living Blue to even it up. What is really laughable is that in the Lonely Planet book on Cult Football this 'expert' on football totally confused former Altrincham FC player and manager John King with former Tranmere Rovers manager John King.
Wouldn't that be down to the Sports Editor?

Who is he by the way?

You mean Andy Mitten? Founding editor of Rag fanzine United We Stand, nephew of Charlie Mitten the ex Rag forward etc etc. An arse.

Re: MUEN -whats gone wrong

Respect to SB for making an appearance, you just know since he came on here MEN's traffic rose.

I don't visit the site, I don't buy it (I don't even accept the free offerings in town)

And it's down to the negativity of The MEN - a preference to report on a possible signing of a player rather than a charitable event that will do something positive for a community.

This preference is for profit. The MEN is biased - towards making a profit. They will write negative slants towards us, and negative slants towards The Rags... This pisses us all off and results in a click through, a view of some advert and a possible comment.

A story about a new community initiative in Beijing or some charity Fashion show won't generate much traffic.
A story pissing us all of (and when I say us, I'm referring to all football fans)
Will get ALOT more traffic...

The MEN are biased... for Profit.

They have an Agenda - Profit.

Just these days they are more desperate (with the advent of internet competition) and go to more extremes to attract click throughs.

Above, This nailed it for me

- there's always an agenda for newspapers, has to be I suppose, but fair play to Brennan he came on here, it would be nice if all strands of the media interacted and recognised the fans more like that, I'm sure they do, or do they?

Maybe his boss sent him on saying get us more clicks Brennan, tell them we love city and that.

Fair play to Brennan for arguing his corner on here.

I don't think the Evening News is biased against City, it'd be idiocy to alienate half of their audience.

I do think though that the standard of reporting has dipped. In the past they'd break exclusive stories about City, but now they just rehash rumours from the tabloids/Twitter/forums and pass them off as news, often with a sensationalist or antagonistic headline.

I guess it's the nature of the industry these days, editors are desperate for traffic to their sites to boost falling revenues. The Daily Mail are just as bad for it.
