Muffin or Barm

Does it look like this;
DHLu2uQXoAAJyCI

Then it’s a barn apparently.

This is a muffin;

Certainly as I know it anyway.
Two totally different things, so when a Manc argues over whether it’s one or the other, which are they talking about, the top Image or the bottom.
schoolboy error.

A muffin is only a cake in the USA.

Here a muffin is entirely different. ie Chip Muffin

Bought some oven bottom Muffins yesterday,

I know they are Muffins because it said so on the packet..

Anyway, if Muffins are cupcakes how come I've, sorry Mrs BtB has, managed to cut them in 2, butter the 2 halves before adding a layer of leavy salad, tomato, cooked ham and mayo..

I mean you wouldn't do that to a cake would you..(unless you were a bit weird I suppose..)

I trust this clears things up once and for all..

Time for lunch..!

Bet you're having a shandy with your lunch.
Jellied eels for tea as well.

Southern weirdo.

I was born in Ancoats mate, long before it became trendy and I live undercover in Salford now..

Anyway, it's always been muffin to me, going back to the late 60's / early 70's..!

I've just asked Mrs BtB, muffin (I know) or barm, what is it?

I've been married 32 years this year, known her 5 years prior to that..

She said.... Barm..!

Please don't tell me I've been livin' a muffin lie all these years.. I couldn't cope ffs..!

Your missus has obviously been brought up and educated correctly.
You'd do well to follow her enlightened example.

Muffinistas however were dragged up.
Some of have only recently discovered fire.
;)

37 years and in all that time she's kept this to herself..

I don't think I know her anymore..!

She'll be from Wilmslow or Didsbury. Anyone from Manchester 'proper' always knew these delightfully crafted 'faluches' as muffins!

keep out of this fence sitter

ITS A FUCKING BARMCAKE!

sorry for shouting on your post urban x

No fence sitting, having ate in chippies all over Greater Manchester some have written down
Chip muffin and some have Chip barm, I tend to ask for whichever it sates.

If none is advertised then I ask for a chip muffin like any normal person.

Muffinites must detest chocolate chip muffins because they put a serious dent in their argument.

I can imagine them muttering under their breath every time someone mentions a chocolate chip cake at a party - “would anyone like a muffin?”

“Fuck’s sake, that’s not a muffin. You put chips on a muffin.”

“Well what do you put chocolate chips in?”

“Fuck off.”

Party atmosphere ruined.

Meanwhile, us Barmsters continue without a care in the world.

Other than the fact you all wallow in the self pity of being wrong, knowing deep down that it’s not a barm but you’ve come too far now to be able to uturn.

Fucking Barm, jeez...there’s a muffin, and a chocolate chip muffin. If a muffin wasn’t a muffin then a chocolate chip muffin would be a muffin, but it isn’t a muffin it’s a chocolate chip muffin, and a muffin is a muffin.

Not really much I can easily accept an american muffin (sweet) an english muffin and an oven bottom muffin all share the same name but are different foods.

I have no issues when offered such as a choc chip of blueberry muffin, unless it's filled with chips

Much like a teacake is both a fruity bun or a chocolate covered marshmallow biscuit

Can you imagine walking into a chippy and saying "chip barm please".......

No, me neither. Sounds wrong, because it is wrong.
