Muffin or Barm

I'm from New Moston originally now reside in Failsworth and all on my Mum's side are from North Manc and call them muffins. I spent every weekend of my childhood in Wythenshawe at my Dad's, go in to a chippy there and ask for a chip muffin and they always say, 'you mean a chip barm?'

Seems like a southern johnny thing to me mate.

The only time I use the words 'chip muffin' is when I'm asking for a 'chocolate chip muffin'

All the chippies round here have chip barm on the wall..!
I take it your not from the greater manchester area then?

I am, lived in Rusholme for 21 years and now live in Fallowfield.....they sell barms too ;)

Round here being...
The Tameside area old chap and the threads set my taste buds aflame going to nip in't chippy and have a chip and curry muffin for luncheon.

My family live in the Tameside area and they all say barm so either your telling porkies or Tameside is divided
Not in Ashton,Duky,Stalybridge,Hyde or Mossley they must be immigrants from down South.

Well i said my family who were all from near moss side originally and moved down to Tameside area apart from my Grandad who is from Delph and therefore is odd and all Yorkshire like!!!

Delph is lancashire now however most of the locals still class themselves as whiterose.

Lived up there for a few years,I'm trying to think if they said muffin.
