English isn't their first language, this easily explains away the obvious confusion on their part, to raise this as some sort of "confirmation" of your obvious "muffin madness"* serves you no purpose.
The sooner you accept it is a barm the happier you will be...when everybody tells you you are wrong perhaps it's time to just accept it.
*Muffin Madness: a disease caused through excessive consumption of a sugar cake product known as a muffin. Symptoms include; confusion between cakes and other bread products and clinical delusional episodes interjected with periods of calm. Suffers can appear normal on the surface however should be immediately quarantined and bread products such as the barm should be given 3 times a day, as symptoms ease chips or pies can be introduced in the soft belly of the barm to aid recovery.
