Muffin or Barm

East (towards Oldham) = muffin

It's a barm for me though

English isn't their first language, this easily explains away the obvious confusion on their part, to raise this as some sort of "confirmation" of your obvious "muffin madness"* serves you no purpose.

The sooner you accept it is a barm the happier you will be...when everybody tells you you are wrong perhaps it's time to just accept it.

McDonald's sell Macmuffins ( they don't have blueberries/ chocolate in BTW) and before anybody screams 'Americans, what do they know ? '......one of the main arguments that the barm brigade use is that the yanks call certain cakes 'muffins' . You can't have it both ways, you choose....

Apologies for being sensible about this, but your location backs up my point (posts passim). You're from the East side of Manchester (practically a yonner) :) therefore you call it after a sugary cake type thing.

Edit to ask. Do the McDonalds mcmuffins in anyway resemble the "chip barm,/chip mu***n" delights that we're discussing here? I'll answer for you muffinites, no they don't. So they shouldn't really be used as a term of reference to back up your foolish points.
