Re: Barm or Muffin

Good old tuertsboots, still deluded then I see, haven't see the oven bottom muffin or teacake light have we?

Re: Barm or Muffin

I'm at Sheffield Uni and I went to a little bakery for some lunch and they called them breadcakes.

Any word with cake in it is wrong. Barm cake, teacake, breadcake...they're all wrong.

Wrong side of the pennines in my opinion and teacakes are fine, plain or currant. Plain teacakes are certainly on a par with muffins. And chips go well with either.

Sorry, to me a muffin has chocolate/fruit and teacakes have currants. I do acknowledge oven bottom muffins but only in maccyd with a "sausage" and "egg" on them and they are called English Muffins. served before 1030am at participating stores.

Black propaganda.

Muffins are commonly available for retail in the United States, the UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. They are also found on the breakfast menus of American fast food restaurants worldwide. They are most often toasted then topped with butter and/or jam. They are also used in breakfast sandwiches with meat (bacon, ham, or sausage), egg (fried, scrambled, poached or steam-poached) and / or cheese. They are the base ingredient in the traditional New York brunch dish, Eggs Benedict.

Jam wtf?

Re: Barm or Muffin

Never had a jam teacake, or a jam muffin or even a jam barm or are we above that sort of thing. I take it you have never toasted a barm and put jam on that either. What you dont get is a chip barm its a chip muffin or a chip teacake.

well looks like we will have to agree to disagree. Only ever been a chippy that sold chip barms, rolls or cobs (dependant on geographical location. Never muffin or teacake. Might be I haven't travelled enough !

Time to make a really contraversial statement about the Barms...

*NEWSFLASH*

Barm activist involved in sexual activities with underage otters!

Two white rolls get on a bus and one called Bap and the other cob cob starts to chat up Bap and presents her with some flours. So taken aback with this expression of love she invites cob back to her place in Baker Street, they then get round to some serious romance cob loves her teacakes and Bap is take with the size of cobs bagguette. The yeast begins to rise and it is not too long before cob is well and truly giving her muffin a good licking. Bap is relishing the attention so she decides to get her lips round cobs bagguette. Slowly but surely both decide it istime to get cobs baguette in baps oven before it goes too soggy and after a frantic ten minutes both relax content in the knowledge that for the next nine months there is a bun in the oven and they best start planning for some barms.

Ok best I could think of in the spare of the moment, please feel free to adapt and change as you see fit. But it is still a bloody chip muffin.
