I managed a chippy for ten years, my dad once counted 36 different names for the said object. North West is usually a barm, but it's very regional. Here's some more:
Roll
Teacake
Bloomer
Batch
Cob
Bread roll
Bap
Muffin

This is a serious thred not a competiton on who can name the most bread products

actually i lived in southampton for a couple of years, and they had no idea what a muffin was. they called it a bap.
