A muffin & a barm & a roll for that matter are all kinds of small batches of bread cooked in different ways in the oven or on a stove. your comparing lemons & oranges here :-)

Blaa? They must have asked someone pissed up, slumped over in the corner of a Kilkenny pub there!

Also, Bin Lid? Perfect for the dippers then!

Roll is not recognised nationally for what would be a muffin (oven bottom muffin)! A roll is oblong. Several of these other terms describe different nuances of bread product.

(Sorry for searching this thread, but I couldn't not reply to this!)

12 - finger - needs moving to the US election thread under the Trump section surely - I note he never claimed to grab a woman by the barm...'nuff said - its a muffin

Barm Lancashire Muffin Yorkshire.

And let that be the end of it.

The world will end before this thread does. Anyone heard of a Lancashire Oven Bottom Barm? I'm choking laughing here!

I was in a rather nice cafe in Yorkshire - might have been the only decent one in the county - and the lass serving asked if I wanted my bacon on a 'bread cake'. Of all the names! I said did she mean a 'muffin'. Don't get me started she said.

So I fancy Bluemooners have been in asking for barms 'n muffins and getting 'bread cakes'!
