Muhammed Ali RIP

The greatest of all time.

We lost his best years as well.

Lots of people pretend to be boxing experts by claiming there was better but the majority in the game, who actually fucking know anything, say Ali.

RIP champ.
Spot on, never will be another like him what an icon that man was.

Marciano was a midget in modern heavyweight terms and Tyson himself has said that Ali would have beaten him (Tyson) every time
Yeah for sure. I just don't think Tyson really warrants a mention in this kinda company. In truth comparisons across the years are not really workable. ( I do recall a computer simulation of Ali v Marciano though) Having said all that I think Marciano would have put Tyson to sleep ;)

Sugar Ray fought 200 times, yes, TWO HUNDRED. And won 173 of them, 108 by KO. Before he started to dip he won 133 of his first 134 fights, 75 of his first 76 professional fights. He still went on to fight 60 odd times after that when he was past it, more than most fighters fight in their whole career, and still won most of them.
No argument from me on the SRR front. My comment was in relation to Tyson though.

Ali was no doubt an exceptional boxer and human being but there are other boxers out there who could rightly lay a claim to being the best pound for pound fighters of all time.Top of that list for many ' in the game' experts is Sugar Ray Robinson.

Robinson and only Robinson was better.

Read some shit on here FFS
Johnson better than Ali ?
Ali fought the best heavyweights for nearly 20 years and was never knocked out ( please don't mention Holmes )
3 years out and in 3rd fight goes in with Frazier
How many black fighters did Johnson beat and I can't see how anyone can have seen enough footage of Johnson to make a proper opinion on him
How many heavyweights did Louis and Johnson fight who would be considered in top 10 best heavyweights ever ? Now do the same with Ali
How many former Middleweights did Ali fight ?
In first Frazier fight there is a left hook in about 8th/9th round that buckles his knees, he's going down but somehow straightens his legs back up and pushes back up knowing what's waiting for him.
He really was the Greatest ever his achievements prove this
Go and watch the cooper knockdown and count the gap between rounds, he had an extra 5 seconds that's all and given his record for coming back from knockdowns and huge shots I'm going to say he would've come back v Cooper without those 5 seconds
And whoever said first Liston fight was rigged FFS

Completely agree. Particularly with the last sentence re the Liston fight.

That story of a fix has been going around since the time of the fight and the reasons are clear.

At the time Liston was EXACTLY the type of black heavyweight the autorites wanted.. A hulking, menacing, inarticulate "angry" black man. The sort to scare the white population with (America at that time made South Africa in the 80's look progressive in relation to race).

The very last thing they wanted was for a beautiful (sorry, pretty) verbose, intelligent, talented, engaging, articulate black man to win the biggest prize in sport. It completely undermined the centuries old myth that "all black fellas want to rape your wife and kill you").

When Clay as he was then beat him so easily the story of a fix was put about. It's very sad that it is still catching the unaware out all this time later.

RIP the King.

One of the mentally weakest v one of the mentally strongest
I'm a huge Tyson fan but when people weren't scared and fought back he struggled and I think we know Ali wouldn't have been scared and would've fought back
Ali wins all day

That was my reply to Chippy Boy about Tyson scaring his opponents. I once read that Liston had the same effect on boxers in the 60s. Also as a Tyson fan back then it would still have been an Ali win every day.

I thought watching the memorial/ eulogy of Ali is slightly more important than Euro 2016 today.

I know Pres Clinton is loved by the Black community, but it was weird seeing him get warm applause, still!

And all I know is Ali's grandchildren are gonna be shamed when they grow into women and look back on their behaviour!

Why? What happened?
