Munich references in current chants.

I'm not really fussed one way or another. I come from a generation where fans habitually chanted such things at each other and neither side made a deal out of becoming offended by any of it, simply gave some it return and actually generated an atmosphere inside the grounds. Same as I had no issues with the rags chanting about Fodens mum yet many blues were appaleptic with rage over it.
Is it not possible to create atmosphere inside a stadium and have "banter" without making light of death and referring to the family members of players as slags?

Obviously I have no idea what "generation" you are from, but not so long ago certain generations thought nothing of homophobic or racist slurs. Thankfully the world is moving on.

"Harder than a Tank" would have been a better line. There again, watching ruSSian tanks having their lids blown off so easily, maybe not.
I'm pretty certain they were the lyrics when we first started singing it, the Jaap Stam bit was added later.

Why the reference to Jaap Stam anyway? Pab Zab joined City a whole 7 years after Stam left the rags, so it's not as if they ever shared a pitch, and surely we can have a song celebrating Zaba without the need to mention the rags at all?
Genuinely who gives a fuck either way. Weird thread.

being in trouble with the authorities for tragedy chanting then?
I’m as liberal anti Trump/Farage et al as one can get but “tragedy chanting” is one of the worst PC terms to come out of the last years.

They’re songs for Christ sake. I personally think they’re childish and well past their sell by date but with shite like that, I can understand the anti-woke backlash that sees pricks like Trump and Farage gaining votes.

I know but I couldn't think of another term to use as that is the one the authorities use. I just don't want the club or any supporters getting into trouble for it.
Apart from the fact that as I said I hate that chant and always have done. Sorry @SWP's back. :-)

Why any blues would want to mock the Munich Air Disaster is bad enough. Even worse when one of our own was killed in it.
I love he’s harder than West Ham. Don’t have a problem with West Ham and it shows we have a sense of humour and just a tiny smidgin bit of love for another club.

Had a bunch of mibs starting on blues on the Maine Road forecourt near the main entrance about 10 to 3 one Derby game.

They were shouting "Come on then! we are Munichs"

Bunch of old blokes walking past looking at them bemused.
