My list was whittled down from about sixty....There is so many I've left out and now I feel a deep sense of betrayal...

You should be marched through the streets for a couple of them.

It’s “favo(u)rite” though. Always the issue with threads like this. Have always liked Zep and Page but he doesn’t make my top ten of “favo(u)rites” which includes plenty of firework-makers but also just folks who sound different or were innovative or just fast and clean. Plenty of great music without guitar solos, just great guitars e.g.

Just want to clarify Acoustic is definitely allowed.
Also in case a certain poster from the Midwest of USA asks - yes you can nominate Banjo players :-)

Some big calls there but it does illustrate that there's such a range of talent to choose from. I'll be doing a very similar thing I think. Hopefully when the results are in people will share some of who they voted for and why without people getting arsey about it. Your list of absentees makes me intrigued to know who's in your list!

Think yours is the first mention of Zappa who I thought might pop up earlier. Not seen a mention of Duane Allman yet, mind boggles what he might have gone on to do had he not gone much too soon.
