Muslim footballers - This is not a dig at Islam

To a similar point, with footballers now following strict diets, are any City lads Veggies or Vegans? Do any of the world's top players not eat meat?

Seriously, this not a cheap invite to have digs at Ashley Cole, Campbell etc. Just mildly interested..,

I have a friend who is Muslim and plays football. He simply doesn't fast on matchdays and then makes it up at the end of Ramadan. i.e. He continues fasting for an extra few days to make up for the days he missed.

he might as well have a bacon buttie and a pint of stella! it's all about fasting within the calender cycle.

yeah i went to a school which had a large % of muslims so i ended up with quite a lot of muslim mates and sometimes during fasting they were ill/felt weak so ended up breaking their fast but then they did extra days once Ramadan was over to make up for the days they'd missed, so i presume this is what footballers can do? The poster on here, Omiclops, might be able to help clear it all up, cause he's a practising Muslim.

On a similar note, i know someone who goes to the same mosque as Toure and on the first time he went there he donated around £2000 to the mosque.

No, my friend. As I've already said, fasts can be made up at other times. Menstruating women cannot fast but do those few days after the official end of Ramadhan.

Actually, he's right, maybe putting it abit harsh though. It specifically says in the Quran that the only reason you can skip it is if you're ill or travelling, as football is neither of these then there is no excuse.
