Being free from the anxiety of becoming ill through having healthcare for all, would be well overdue. We are all as free, more so now. That unique freedom bs is a myth and right now removing women’s rights to decide what happens to their body, proves it. Not very free. I don’t like abortion either, but here’s the thing. It’s got fuck all to do with me. This won’t be the last move against women, then gay and trans.
However, we know that half of the country are sound people, who are more fucked off about what’s happening to their country. But as long as Cheeto Chops is in charge, you’re on the other side, with Russia. Imagine even thinking that sentence could be written. It couldn’t without Trump.
We just hope, Trump fans aside here. Reform, EDL, those fine chaps, but them aside, the majority can’t believe he’s not in a suit the same colour as his face, never mind fucking President.
You are taking broad strokes that make me realize you don’t understand the life many Americans lead, but pile up many of the difficulties of living here as if everyone is facing them.
Nearly every job beyond the minimum wage laborer has healthcare through their job, much like many Brits have private healthcare through their employer.
Additionally, the life in different states is very different. I live in IL which, for all its downsides, is one of the more liberal states that counts women as equals and has healthcare protections that are second to none, including access to services. Your characterization is more suited to some of the more southern red states, in which I would probably not live.
Lastly, I would say that your “proof” of anything is anecdotal extrapolation, because with almost minimal effort, almost everything you could ever need is available to you.
Occasionally, it might take a smidge more than minimal effort, but rarely, and only for a certain sliver of society…and I’m talking the low-income female who is single and pregnant and wants an abortion, but lives in a deep red state surrounded by other deep red states, who has to travel a long distance for care and cannot afford the inconvenience of the travel (car, insurance, petrol) or the time (hotel, possible multiple visits to the doctor, loss of earnings from a tenuous job). This is the poster child for the left, but in reality is an infinitesimally small number of people.
I’m ALL FOR women controlling their own bodies, am pro-choice and a champion of women’s rights (4 strong females in the family), and I’m considered quite liberal over here, but I’m also not blind to “normal” reality, which isn’t usually as bad as EITHER side paint as their example.
