My opinion about Kolarov

Ah, the old "How dare you insult me! Now ignore any insult I give out because it's okay when I do it! But not when you do it! Clear?" gambit. It's almost as priceless as the "Forums are for discussion... UNLESS YOU DISAGREE WITH ME IN WHICH CASE I WILL RANT ABOUT HOW FORUMS ARE FOR DISCUSSION SO HOW DARE YOU DISCUSS WHAT I DON'T WANT TO HEAR!" strategy.

We're rolling out the classics. ;)

I think you'll find, that was an insult due to the previous posters inability to have a debate and solely utilise insults, however, I used insults against yourself due to the ridiculous and frankly simplistic view of just accepting whatever the club does. I am one of Mancini's biggest fans as I think most people are and have never doubted him but the traditional constitution of a forum is to have opinions and to air them not for people like yourself just to disregard them like that and take the moral high ground.

So what you are saying is its all right for you to throw insults at me to try and bolster your argument, but not for people to give you any insults and i'm not allowed to disagree with your opinion, even though in your title you say it is the "Truth" suggesting your opinion is indeed some kind of fact, which it clearly isn't. Thanks for clearing the whole forum thing up for me.

Both of you over interpreting it I think... or just need to construct your arguments better losing it's meaning?

You've not come up with great arguments. We all know he isn't great defending but how anyone can say he isn't a danger going forward is beyond me.

When he does advance forward and fair play to him he gets in some good positions. However the problem occurs when he thinks these first time crosses (which you do when your 7 to get height on the ball) are good. Most of them connected with a Villarreal player and I believe were generally cop out balls because he is an awful crosser when the ball is dead. Additionally when he commits himself offensively, he then can't commit to his defensive duties which when he does defend as already stated is no better than elementary defending. He doesn't challenge full stop, he made one successful challenge if memory serves me right, he does not jump when challenging for the ball, I don't know if this is due to lack of heading ability but many goals last season were due to him at set pieces defending.

I though Kolarov was superb at B'burn but a free kick scored against B'ham away last year; another against Napoli at home and an assist last night cannot defend (excuse the pun) solely on that. Most of the threatening attacking plays when Kolarov is in the team is on his side. Maybe I over exaggerated that he is simply "SHIT" but when I use that term I apply it similarly to Dzeko as well, so what I 'm trying to say is that he is simply not good enough.

That's a better argument. Nothing against you but I still have to disagree. I was often taught to drill the ball low and hard as it's more difficult to defend. From what I saw as well, there was quite a bit of variation, as some were in the air (a few to Dzeko). Like I said though, not a Left Back but a decent Left Midfielder. With the committing offensively, I thought that was the reason for Barry coming on, to cover. Now as we have seen with Dzeko this season, anyone can go in and out of form in an instant. If Clichy gets injured, I couldn't think of any better back-up player to fill in.

I think Barry coming on was also due to Yaya commiting to offensive duties which left De Jong and our centre halves exposed but I agree if he is at our club he should be used as a LW however I think we played him in that role against Bolton Home last season and in my view he just wasn't good enough. At the moment he's playing as an auxilary LM which isn't his duty it's more of a LWB which it's primary role is to defend and he in my opinion isn't good enough.

I think when he was LM last year, his problem was that he thought he had to shoot all the time, which broke down the play too much. In a way I would keep him as a backup and play Barry when he does, so he has cover. We could do worse though. Bridge, Ball, Jordan etc.

Re: The truth about Kolorov

Kolarov will go from strength to strength and make some people on this board look very silly.. if that hasn't happened already.

Re: The truth about Kolorov

The truth is, if he's being asked to overlap twenty times a half, we know as often as not, he won't get back. It's usually Lescott's job to sweep up behind him. And it's Kompany and De Jong's job to make this possible. We do it time after time in the PL, but we've had problems in both home CL games because the CB's are too deep and too narrow, and seem a bit switched off, minds worrying about the wrong things.

Re: The truth about Kolorov

to be fair i think he probably was one of the best last night, created the most chances and balanced the wing well when aj was out on the other side. he was used as a left winger in one game last year i remember, should get another crack at that because thats what he is best at.
