I think everyone has forgot that the scum have got 2 very hard games out of the last 3 Us and Sunderland away. We will beat them and Sunderland under O'Neil have took 29 points from 16 games top 4 form and at home pld 9 won 7 draw 1 lost 1 not an easy place to go. The scum could easily drop 5 or 6 points in the last 3 games.

We need to win 7 out of 8 (as long as we beat them) which we did at the end of last season. It will be close but we can do it and been written off can only help.

City 91 points the rags 88 points why not
Sunderland will have nothing riding on that game. United will piss it.

That's my thinking too. The way I see it is that whoever is leading the table after the derby will almost certainly go on to win the league.

I would not say that is definite with us! Newcastle away in their last game of the season at home is not a gimme.

I appreciate that and it's a dangerous thing to say but I think if the title was on the line I'd expect us to go all out to win that match and put in that extra effort needed to get the 3 points.

Put it this way, I'd be extremely disappointed if we manage to claw back the deficit and pull ahead of United with 2 games to go only to blow it.

That would be the ultimate Typical City moment! I agree that momentum should be unstopable at that point but whether I could watch it is a different matter!

Is our collective depression stemming from the fact that we've been at the top for the best part of the season and now find ourselves in 2nd with 8 games to play, having acquired 70 points??
I for one have vertigo given our current state and recall thinking the holy grail this season - like last - was to try and cement a Chumps League place, with a "pot" an added upside.
Irrespective of what happens between now and the end of the season, it's been a fantastic season to be a blue: Munich, Naples, 6-1, 5-1, 3-2, 2-1 etc etc. Our team is not going to drift off into the sunset after 10th May (or whenever the season ends; they are here to stay and so too, IMHO, is Bobby Manc. We'll continue to develop and can look ahead with gusto to the coming seasons; even Fergie acknowledged recently that we're going to be a real rival to United from now on.

In the meanwhile, BELIEVE!

Good points. I think if we were offered 2nd place at the start of the season the majority of us would've taken it as it represents progress. I know I would've accepted that before a ball was kicked.

However, the way the season has unfolded - with our fantastic start and with us being top for so long, it now seems a little disappointing that we could end up finishing as runners-up. The bigger picture though is that, as you said, we're not going away and ought to be even stronger next season providing we continue to build on what we have now. Ferguson knows he and United won't be able to hold us off for ever.

I would have taken 15/15 home wins for sure. I would also have taken 2nd as long as we were closer than last season which we have been. The disappointment would be winning nothing if that happens after the season we have had and the football we have played especially at home. It will however soon be forgotten as they always are espwith Euro 2012 around the corner.

On the positive side we can still win it as they were poor last night, We might get the dream win at Arsenal if they have an off day and lets face it their winning run wont go on forever and we know we can beat the rags at home.

Worse case scenario we finish 2nd, qualify for the CL again with no qualifying round, buy 2/3 world class players and do better next year.

It certainly could be worse....We could still be talking about Samaras being the uncut diamond and hoping we sign Reo Coker on loan in the summer!!

Agreed. Don't mistake my positivity for happy-clappy mode; I want this title, but perspective is required.

Why the fuck are we relying on what other teams do against the rags?

It always has been and always will be what WE do. If we don't have enough this season then I have every confidence we will win it in my lifetime (please god).

As has been discussed recently every team that has won the league came 2nd the season before/including the rags when leeds won it.

Stop flapping and keep believing because for as long as it is mathematically possible I will NEVER give up.

Fuck the rags...

Michael Oliver has gone down in my estimation!

Much has been said about the ex-rags at the SoL, but there are three Platt Lane old boys at Loftus Road, and I think two of them would love to get a result at the swamp, and after their result and the manner of their comeback against the scousers, they will be up for the battle to try and stay up.

If the rags have won 9 out of the last 10, and won the next 8, then that's be 17 wins out of 18 wins out of 18 - virtually a half a season winning streak

They'd deserve to be champions

But they wont

The good thing at toon is they will play to our advantage with counter attacking footy to entertain so we should get a win there.
