That was too easy.
I'm going to find something more obscure :-)

Going back to your original picture,I took this photo in 1991.
10 points for the first person to name the place.

But the bad guy sure looks like Eric Trump's dad.No, he was just a cook.
That's all correct we had our two crew navigators plus the Station nav and his mate on board. We even had a spare INS running and ready to swap. They used a technique call grid navigation once we got past 75N but in the end we reverted to dead reckoning until Radar picked up the subs then we did radar homing to find them.Going back to your original picture,
I've just randomly been sent an image on WhatsApp from some one I work with. I can't post the image, as I don't have an image hosting account (plus, it's not my image).
It's a picture of XV231 (35) from the second aircraft over the NP with HMS Trenchant and USS Spadefish below, from early 1992.
Apparently you guys had some difficulties navigating so far North as the Nimrod INS toppled at about 80N, and the enhanced INS fitted for the trip toppled at about 85N, plus, every direction is South from the North Pole.

We circled about a dozen times and when it was time to go home the instruction was go south and we all shouted which one?
We used the subs alignment to give us an initial heading then updated out position from radar fixes on the way south.
We did air to inflight refuelling on the way up and back, from a VC10 if i remember correctly. No problem finding them either time.
All jolly good fun for a 23 year old GD :-)
