Getting ready for The Swamp
So who is going on this trip? Just been doing a bit of research on this away trip as I love Italy but the more I read, the more I am having second thoughts. Seems the dippers had quite a few problems there when they played in 2009 with 5 of them getting stabbed. I have travelled away with City and work and been to some pretty dodgy places but this place and its fans seem a step up. I have always made my own arrangements for european away trips but I am thinking of Thomas Cook for this one. Has anyone gone with them before and if so what are they like? Is this the safest option for the game? Do they arrange transport from the hotel to the ground?

Any help would be appreciated
 
I had my honeymoon in Amalfi 2years back and got the train to Naples.

I wouldnt wish the place on my worst enemy!The driver who picked us up was shaking with fear,took our luggage and ran to the car.When getting off the train a guy in a train uniform tried take our luggage off...but didnt work for the train company and was stealing bags!All the cops are on the take as they were watching him and a week later he was still doing it.In the 50 yards between car and train platform I counted 7 attempts to dip my pocket.

All the hotel staff in Sorrento said its a shithole.A friend of mine is a top cop in Bologna and he said he wouldnt set foot in it.

When we were travelling,my wifes mam bought us a guide to Naples..in the useful phrase section the list of phrases was;

"Police"
"Attack"
"Help"
"Stop Thief"

and below all these in order of priority...

"Hello"!!!

Its one away trip I wont touch. Spent 10 mins there in total and never again.

Sweet Jesus! I knew it had a reputation but the beggars belief.

I flew into Naples when we stayed in sorrento a few years ago, as the other poster said not nice. Luckily we just had an airport transfer so didnt have to experience the place but from what I saw, not a nice place!
 
stayed in sorrento(which is lovley) but went for a day in naples and its a proper shit whole. still going but just letting poeple know that its dodgy as fuck hopfully we can find a hotel that isnt in naples and just go in for the day or somthing
 
It's true Naples is dodgy to say the least but maybe we'd be welcome if we took Maradona with us!?
