I loved the watch, than rewatched a few times , games vs Sarri's Napoli. 2017-18 season.

Beautiful to watch. Excellent playing from both sides. No bus style defence.

I don't think that was a pre-planned ploy. I think City were fatigued and pragmatically chose to control the game by defending the penalty area and using pace on the counter.

Reijnders and Rodri have a lot of room for improvement. The good thing is that we can expect this.
Our fitness has been waaaay off for a while. Some of it understandable (rodders) some of it due to the CWC and not getting a rest. Going to be a hard graft this season and there full squad are going to have to contribute.

They did get a month off after the CWC and have been training for over a month. Surely they should be fit by now. They are athletes.

Maybe it was conserving energy but we looked leggy that last 15/20 mins.

Gvardiol and Rodi will get rested for sure so they're ready for Arsenal. That's Stones/Ake and Nico in.

Figure Nunes, Bobb and Savinho will rotate in too. Foden, Doku and Khusanov off? Probably Lewis in for O'Reilly too.

Remember, most teams played 4-6 pre-season games. We played ½ a game against a second division Italian side as we changed the team at half time.

Some teams had played 4 games by the time we played that Palermo game.

We can lose a few games alright but I think the club will want to finish high in the league phase.
We are way behind arsenal and liverpool in the CL rankings for the Club World Cup.
With the high prize money I'd say the CWC is a competition that the club hierarchy treats as very important.
Accurate, but sad how a contrived competition can assume such a 'pedigree' just because of the money, or the way that it's marketed. Especially considering some of the teams who were/weren't there last time.

Similar to F1 commentators creaming over the Miami GP as the glamorous jewel in the crown - as though Monaco doesn't exist.

I enjoyed the CWC a lot more than I thought I would, but right now I'd rather have had an uninterrupted pre-season in the bank.
