I think it’s been a constantly very well made/scripted/acted show.
Perhaps painting by numbers but the formula works very well.

And yes...I google the characters too and they pretty much did exist as portrayed in the show.

There’s been a couple but I couldn’t fight the low budget feel much longer..got a made for TV vibe to it so didn’t grab me.

Yup...similar opinion of El Chapo being almost a knock off B grade tv production compared to the far much more slicker Narcos series.
