Nasri back in full training

Hasn't effectively trained or played football for what now? Half a year? And people seem shocked he might have added a couple extra pounds? What world do you all live in?

Since November...so 4 1/2 months.

Look I'm just happy to see Nasri back, and he's had a difficult time off the pitch as well breaking up with his girlfriend, but look at the shape Kompany came back in - he was leaner and meaner than ever and he stepped back in like he'd never left.

If he is overweight - and I won't judge him until I've seen him on the pitch - We can't really afford to spend a month getting Nasri back to fighting weight. He's been running around doing light training for a month as well so it's not like he's just got off his sofa.

I want him to stay at the club past the summer, so I really hoped to see him really come back focused and determined to be the incredible player we all know he can be. Impress Pep, secure us 3rd place at least.

If he has let himself get out of shape it doesn't really suggest he's 100% focused on coming into the team and making a difference to our season.

Fancy Nasri to have a big part to play under Pep. He'll be one of the only senior players available to Pep for the first 2-3 weeks of pre-season. If he's prepared to learn, listen and be moulded into the system Pep wants, he could find himself as a starter

The Nasri of 13/14 would be a huge boost ...tho sadly too late thanks to the pure idiocy that has already gone on

There was a period that season where I felt we'd score every time he got the ball near the box.

Fuck me, people on this site moan about anything!

Is he really they much fatter than he was? I'm not seeing it. But the fact his muscle detached from the bone might suggest why he hasn't been as active as the medical experts on here would have liked.

He has been sorely missed by us this season as he is one of the best at ball retention, assists and general mischief (the good kind) on the pitch and is a great asset to any team he would play in. I for one cannot wait for him to start playing again.

Shit hair though.

Just watching those video clips gives me the feeling that Pep would make him a superstar. The lad has talent in abundance, just needs someone to get on his case and really motivate him.

Completely agree about the constant moaning Deano. Such a shame we cannot mix the optimism from when we were shit and poor with the money and facilities we have now. Too many entitled spoiled brats, doesn't make pleasant reading

Sami the new Michael Johnson? The willingness of some Bluemooners to jump on a player, to seize any chance to find fault no matter how flimsy the excuse, says more about them than the player. Obviously it was SM's fault he ripped a muscle off the bone but surely he could have hopped around the gym instead of turning into Michelin man. Very unprofessional. The medical team should have given him the wet sponge and told him to man up. FFS.

Two things struck me about that video; firstly how good Samir can be when he is focused and secondly, just the pace of our attacking compared to now. Its like bloody night and day.

I said in another thread, due to Chelsea and United (to a lesser extent) having the seasons they are having, our demise has gone slightly unnoticed.
As you say the contrast between our attacking play form 18 months ago to now, is literally night and day!! It hasn't helped with both Nasri and De-Bruyne missing long spells out with injuries, but there are other factors. Our full backs don't offer us know where near what they used too, Toure we know isn't the force he was, nor is Silva unfortunately.

But we are getting away with it, even today on Talksport they were talking about the derby and how it could be tough for United, but how they need to have a go at us because our defence is weak, but our attacking play "is a joy to behold".

Not that I'm a fan of faux tables but, if we just had a 'home' table, we'd be the only side to have won 10 games and with 39 goals for, we are 10 goals in front of he nearest goal scorers, who are Everton. We've scored 20 more goals at home than rags or Gooners. Obviously, this once again highlights our paucity of ideas away from home but we are, mostly a very different team at the Etihaad.

He really REALLY pissed me off towards the end of last season. His petulance in the Champions League match (CSKA I think) where he should have been sent off, and then the same again against Barca on Dani Alves, plus just generally putting no effort in over the last two months of last season. BUT, saying that, he's been one of my favourite city players prior to that. We really miss his ball carrying ability, he's the best dribbler we have, and his passing ability isn't far off Silva's.

2013/14, Silva made the team tick, but Nasri made Silva tick. Welcome back!

can't believe that some people are so stupid they are calling him fat are they so thick they don't understand that there is wind blowing out his top! moronic shouldn't be allowed oxygen!

Deary me. Ever heard of the phrase "tongue in cheek"?

(You might find we were all just kidding).

Never understood the dislike of Nasri by some Blues. We have missed him. He and Kevin would make a formidable combination. I suspect He will have a better chance with Pep than some others I can think of. Shame he won't be ready for United game - expect Arsenal will be his aim..,

I've got high hopes for Nasri next season. I've given him plenty of flack before, and had wanted him sold last summer, and on several occasions before.

However his stock is so low at the minute I would persevere with him. The upside is huge. I believe Pep could do wonders with him, as he has so much talent and so many things Pep will like. He has also shown how intelligent he is and tactically aware too, and how he is willing to put the team ahead of himself by playing a certain role under Mancini etc.

He is also very versatile - I can see Pep loving this side of his game. I believe he could be used in a number of positions with the right practice and training (number 10, inside forward on either wing, false striker, or in a deeper role in a midfield 3). And we've missed his ability to keep possession too, more than I ever thought we would.

Importantly we miss his attitude too, yes he has his failings and has shown terrible shithouse behaviour at times, but he doesn't stand for any bollocks and says things like they are, and he has got some fight and bollocks that others could do with.

Hopefully he will feel like a new £30m signing next season.

I've always felt that you could tell whether someone has a clue or not by whether they rate Nasri or not. I'd love to see him play in the playmaker role and feel that he has the full backing of the manager. Top quality player.

It's a shame mate, I really enjoy this forum as I like reading/talking about city. But it's hard sifting through the constant negativity to find things actually worth talking about.
If you dare question someone's negativity oh get roundly called a happy-clapper and You can tell the discussion will go nowhere.

I know city fans are renowned for our pessimism but there's a difference between the charming self deprecation we are so good at and the tar pit of negativity this website has become.
