Arda Turan – A potential replacement for Samir Nasri?
Posted on Wednesday, 27th April 2011 by Thomas Munson
Over the past couple of months, Arsenal midfielder Samir Nasri has been stalling on a new deal at the North London club, which has left many Gooners worried about the Frenchman’s future this summer.
Consequently, Arsene Wenger could be searching for a suitable replacement for the 23-year-old Frenchman. Maybe Galatasaray’s Arda Turan could step up to the plate?
The 24-year-old creative midfielder had a successful Euro 2008 campaign with Turkey, which linked him with a move to Newcastle at the time. However, the Turkish giants rejected the Magpie’s £9 million offer.
So far this season, Turan has managed to bag 8 goals and 4 assists in 19 games for Galatasaray. The Turkish international has said in the past:
‘I want to play in major leagues…’
The attacking midfielder has previously expressed a desire to move to Liverpool, which evidently shows that he is in fact willing to make a switch to the Premier League in the near future.
Many reading this might not know but Arda Turan has been involved in a lot of charity work, which might attract him to Arsenal, as they also do a lot of work to help local and foreign communities.
Turan has only won two trophies so far in his career, these being the Turkish Super Cup and the Turkish Super Lig in 2008. The Turk has also been awarded Turkish League Player of the Year two years running in 2008 and 2009.
Turan could be just the player Wenger is looking for; he is a Turkish international who helped his country to the Euro 2008 semi-finals and has also played Champions League football with Galatasaray.
The midfielder could cost in the region of £10-£20 million, which would go against Wenger’s strict transfer policy. However, Andrey Arshavin has recently been linked with a move back to Zenit, so cash may not be an issue for the Arsenal boss.
These factors may well play a major part in a possible move for the Turkish midfielder. However, would he be willing to leave his childhood club for Arsenal this summer?

Three, we are trying to sign two midfielders, so we are bidding for both.

Hoping for this, all we need is that cerci lad to run the wings with AJ and jobs a good un. (prefer mata to cerci though)

Cerci is extremely average and if we really are bidding for both Sneijder and Nasri (highly unlikely) but if we are then theres no way we will going for Cerci
