If you would prefer I could stick to posting GIFs and formations looks like that is the only type of crap on here that doesn't get any stick.

A question was asked and I replied and then gave my opinion on the matter, apologies but I thought that was what a transfer FORUM (An Internet forum, or message board, is an online discussion site where people can hold conversations in the form of posted messages.) was about.

Nowhere did he mention it was fact. He said 'think' and that it was a round up of everything being posted here and elsewhere. If you can only post facts that you have proof for, I suggest they shut this site down, as it'll be like the Mary Celeste by the end of the day.

I do not have "a source" as such (unlike a lot of the supposedly well connected folk on here), I just know a journo and he speaks to other journos and that is what he has been led to believe - basically City do not want to go over £20M and Arsenal do not want to accept less than £30M; whether this is true or not I do not have a clue, it is just what he believes and may explain why the saga is dragging on

I assume we are haggling and why wouldn't we. Nasri has 1 year left on his contract, has made it clear he wants to leave Arsenal, by all accounts he wants to come to us and it doesn't look like there is any other club in for him. They aren't really in a strong position to piss us about.

And they know we desperately want a wide/central midfielder with a bit more creativity and have one for sale. If they carry on with their view of 'we'll just let him go for nothing' there's a good chance we'd go back with a slightly improved offer before August is out. If the Sneijder is really dead, then our options are a bit limited. This could all come down to Nasri's attitude. If he acts like Cesc and wants away, but gives his all, they may risk keeping him till next season. If he's made it clear he'll have all sorts of mysterious illnesses and injuries for the next 12 months, they'll blink first.

The friction between Mancini and Marwood/Cook could be down to issues such as the above. Mancini wants Nasri today and if that means an extra couple of million, so be it. Cook is trying to balance books, so will be more willing to play hard ball and making it clear to teams that we're not the soft touch we once were. Dangerous games and if it costs us 3 points somewhere, they may both lose.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure we'll have to pay a reasonable fee, after all he's a good player and as you say, it is clear that we want him. But I assume Arsenal are (quite rightly) trying to get a fee out of us that doesn't reflect his contract situation and the "fact" that Nasri desperately wants to join us. It's a shame for Arsenal but the reality is that their hand is weakened in this and imo they can't really take the piss out of us. I don't see us going above the 22m and if they are prepared to "cut their nose off" and lose him for nowt next summer then we should let them do that and go for another target imo. And there would be a good chance he'd still come to us next summer on the free, I would imagine. It does seem that he actively wants to join our "project" (for want of another word).

I reckon it's a done deal but it makes sense to not sign Nasri until Wednesday, that we he's not cup tied for us in CL and only misses the Swansea game.

how does that make it LESS likely for him to be cup tied?

I mean suspended mate. Nasri has a one game European ban to serve, Arsenal play Udinese Tuesday night, so if he's still an Arsenal player Tuesday he serves his ban then, and would be free to play in our first CL game.

the price is a strange one. If he had 3 years on his contract, he'd probably still only be worth 20-25m. Most players with a year left would only be worth about £10m, so it's a sign of how much we want him that we are prepared to pay a realistic valuation of him, ignoring his contract situation. However, there must come a point where it's worth just leaving it and considering him again next year.

From arsenal's view, he could keep them in the top 4, so it would be madness to sell him for only £10m, but as we're offering virtually the same as for Mata, I don't know why they didn't just take the deal. If they accept now, Valencia will know Arsenal are more desperate to buy than they are to sell, so his price will go up, probably by more than arsenal has squeezed out of us over the last few weeks. Alternatively, they try and get by with only Ramsey and Wiltshire, who look good players, but are in-experienced and there's little cover if one gets injured. I wouldn't be best impressed if I'd shelled out £1000 for an arsenal season ticket
