Fuck the CL game. If Nasri plays and gets cup-tied it's Cooks fault. Why can't he fucking close the fucking deal like Mancini said? He has had enough time and the deal should be done before the Udinese game. Or should have been done long agoo....

If Nasri plays on Wednesday it's not Cook's fault, nor is it the Arsenal board's fault... it's not even Wenger's fault.

The responsibility lies fairly and squarely with Nasri.

If he wants to join us he knows he has to not play on Wednesday... Mancini made that clear according to today's news.

So if Nasri is picked... he throws a sickie, or he tells Wenger he's not playing and suffers the consequences.

If he does play, then that is Nasri's decision alone.

I think Mancini's comments were aimed specifically at Nasri rather than Wenger.
It's time for Nasri to decide. If he plays Wednesday, then I think he will have decided that City is not for him... and I'm sure that's how Mancini will interpret it as well.

So I reckon we will know, one way or another, by Wednesday.

Here's hoping!

But what can Nasri do if Wenger decides to play him?

I dont think Nasri wants to be disrespectfull and force his move. It seems like that.

I explained what Nasri can do.

It's up to him. And him alone!

If he wants to be at City...

But what can Nasri do if Wenger decides to play him?

He could say "sod off, I am not playing".

But the bottom line I think is that Wednesday will determine how much power Arsene Wenger still has left at Arsenal. It is abundantly clear that given his own way, he will hang on to Nasri at any cost, even if it means letting him go on a Bosnan in 12 months and thereby losing the gunners £20m+

The board, we would assume, do not fancy the prospect of tossing £20m down the toilet. And they know that Nasri's sale value is trashed the moment he walks on to the pitch on Wednesday, thereby effectively scuppering the deal. No-one will pay £20m+ for a cup-tied Nasri. (God, I hope not even WE could be that stupid.)

So will Wenger's wishes prevail? Or will he be told Nasri is not playing (thereby interfering with his managerial decisions and undermining his authority in the club). I think it's going to be fascinating. I said this earlier (in not so many words) but I can see Wenger resigning over this, and I would not be surprised if he is no longer Arsenal manager by the weekend.

surely the board must be saying dont play him we want 20 million smackers?
But the board cant force him to move. let me give you another scenario. nasri says he will not move to City and is not interested in any new contract and will run down his contract. now the club is facing a vital CL game, do they play him and just accept he's leaving on a free or do they not play him and go there with a weakened team and basically miss out on CL and transfer fee for nasri. 9 days left and if Nasri is 100% determined to see out his contract, no one can do anything about it. this is just a theory. My guess is no matter what he will not play against udinese as we have Song, Wilshere, rosicky and Gervinho back. so we are not as desperate for bodies as against liverpool

If he plays and If arsenal get knocked out then I'd buy him anyway full season to go + domestic cup games? Who on here would give a monkeys toss if we lifted the premier league trophy with the lad in the side,

Totally agree

Idealy i would want him available for all comps but it's no biggy if he's Tied for the Champs League imo.

Until he signs on the dotted line he's contracted to play for Arsenal, he can't just turn around and say he's not playing.

Hopefully it wont come to that.............

it's an extreme 'biggy' if he's tied to the Champions League in my book.

lifted from arse mania:

UEFA CL Rules

17.07 Excluding the three rounds of the UEFA Intertoto Cup and the UEFA Super
Cup, and subject to paragraph 17.18 below, a player may not play UEFA
club competition matches for more than one competing club in the course of
the same season. A substitute player who is not fielded is entitled to play for
another club competing in the same season’s UEFA club competitions,
provided that he is registered with the UEFA administration in accordance
with the present Regulations.

Subsequent registration

17.17 For all matches from the start of the first knockout round, a club may register
a maximum of three new eligible players for the remaining matches in the
current competition. Such registration must be completed by
1 February 2008 at the latest. This deadline cannot be extended.

17.18 One player from the above quota of three who has played UEFA club
competition matches for another competing club in the current season may
exceptionally be registered, provided that the player has not been fielded:
− in the same competition for another club
− for another club that is currently in the same competition.

So it seems if he plays for us he can't play for City until the knockout stages and only then if we lost the qualifier.

Yep. Either his price would drop significantly, or we look for alternatives.
