I'm a bit of a centrist here. I think he'd be fine as an Otamendi replacement, good business even, but I'm not sure if I think he's as good as Stones. I think being part of a back three with wing backs might suit him best, and I'd be excited to see that. That'd give Rodri a bit more freedom to be more progressive at CDM, and maybe make us a bit less predictable with Mendy and Cancelo becoming more attacking. The problems are that he's not exactly stopped a barrage of goals going in at Bournemouth and there's no arguing with the fact that his aerial stats are dreadful.
In the end I think it's a decent deal that we'll all feel more positively about once a proper world-class starting CB has been announced.
