I’d be surprised if we managed to get £45m for Ake. I know we are a sentimental bunch and think he did a good job last year but he has only played 1,700 minutes of PL football since we signed him for £40m. Half of that covering at left-back. Not many players in that scenario would go for more money.

If they’re talking £45m then we should sell and look for another 4th choice CB (ideally somebody younger we can bed into the squad alongside Dias, Stones & Laporte) and then use it to invest into the actual left back we need to get the MC deal done.

Overall that’d be great business.

Not really. We paid £40m only 2 seasons ago and he's solid enough we don't need to sell, especially to a rival.

Unless it's 60/70m imo they can get to fuck !

Given the probability of injury to all 4 of them, I'd prefer to keep Ake unless he wants to go. We'll need all 4 over the length of the season, and we won't get a better 4th choice for the money we will likely get for him. I'd rather keep him

With you on this pal. It's certainly not ideal but he helped us get a league title and getting back what we paid for him, or +5M is fair enough. I don't imagine he'll be the difference in Chelsea winning the league over us in the future. Get the money up front and put it towards Cucurella and we instantly get better on paper.
