Not sure you understood what I posted. I was asking why cannot a Trident sub not launch when based in either Faslane or Coulport?

If any multi national group needs changing heavily, it's the UN security council, the UN itself does lots of good work round the world, but the UN itself can only be good for the world without the block vote the security council have, it no longer serves a purpose for the world in general.

I Have a funny feeling that we cannot launch our nuclear deterrent unless the US provides the codes. Maybe wrong.

LOL, I promise not to use the codes (tonight).

In reality, I just work in an office that supports the boats that carry it, I've no idea where any of them are, nor do I care much, but I happen to know that we're independent of the US on this.

Also it's getting away from the subject of NATO, so my last comment on it, as most of NATO is not nuclear armed.

If they work as well the rest of their military, they'd probably wipe out everything around the launch site first.

They're currently using donkeys to resupply their fading army FFS.
 
I think an American General, once said the UK was an unsinkable warship.

Now I think it is used by the yanks purely as a means of early warning for them, to give them a few extra minutes and as a target for the Russians, thus wasting a few nuclear weapons on us.

Now that satalite technology is so improved they don't really need us, unless it's to march along side them, in some pointless Middle Eastern war.
The UK need to form an European Army, with our close neighbours.

There is no special relationship with them... Never was, always turned up late to the war and then sold us their weapons and lent us money to rebuild our battered economy, which I think Gordon Brown finally paid off.

There were some sweetheart loans, but about 85% of Marshall Plan funds to the UK were grants, and the UK received the largest sum by far. The reason the loans weren't repaid until 2006 was that the term was 50 years at 2% interest, and the US granted several hardship deferments as the UK needed them. Try getting that from your bank.

During the Cold War, Great Britain was referred to as " The Unsinkable Aircraft Carrier", hence why most of the United States service personnel stationed here were in the USAF.
